Dec-04-20 Anand vs Giri, 2019
|
gnosophil: I don't understand why Giri played 20...Qh5.
this is a typical Berlin defense position where white uses his kingside pawn majority and black his queenside majority. black had an active plan which is advancing his queenside pawns starting with a5 then a4 which would open up lines |

Jul-17-20 Karpov vs Korchnoi, 1971
|
gnosophil: terrible game from korchoi. he did not castle, instead of developing his pieces including the rooks he ruined the pawn structure in front of his king. any strong player would be happy to sac his pieces to bring the black king to the open and hope for a check mate in future. |
