Hi. I live in Kenya, I am 23. I do not have a rating(OK, maybe on yahoo chess, gamecolony.com , and on letsplaychess.com , all in the region 1460-1560, though I don't know how they relate to Elo.). On the board I play unpredictably....more often than not I am simply lucky! Being 23 years of age my favourite player most naturally has to be Kasparov, though Anand is more exciting(enough to be my favourite if it wasn't for my classical chess preference). chessgames.com is a classic site! Kibtzing is just wonderful. I welcome messages from all. Thank you.

grook: Guys, been wondering, after Black's 30...Nxd5, can White play 31.Qxe4, posing some difficult questions for Black's King. Or is there a nice refutation I'm missing?

grook: <Surely this win shows that Anand is just an idiot savant? Or has he been cheating (is there a toilet handy for him there?)? - certainly he's been very lucky in the match so far - BUT - unlike Kramnik he really doesn't understand deep positional subtleties.> Hey hey! my friend ...

grook: Great game by both players, the old maxim that a few moves, or even one, can mean victory or loss applies even at this high level, although it has to be said that that the pressure from Anand played a big part. It's too early on in the match to predict the winner, but after the first ...

grook: I would hold my guns first before celebrating, Carlsen is an upset magician, but Radjabov isn't known for big blunders (nothing short of a big blunder can deny him a draw). But I understand in case of a tie Anand clinches it. So hurray!! for Anand :)

grook: Is there any Kenyan player who has won a game in this tournament?? We are getting a thrashing :-(

   May-24-06 J Wanjiru Wambugu vs S Paridar, 2006

grook: <kellmano>:Not so bad for a player with a rating that low. Kenya is still in the periphery of chess, but Wambugu tried here...

   May-24-06 S Ghader Pour vs E Gichuru Wanjiru, 2006

grook: 35...Ra1? is Wanjiru's undoing in this game, she would have held out for much longer, if not play for draw. All the same nice try, 1606 rating lasted longer against 2100...We Kenyans are watching!!!

grook: Kudos to Topalov. I gotta say that even though I've just lost 300 chessbucks bet on Anand winning the tourney :-/

grook: All that is being said about Anand is true, I am learning most painfully - I almost certainly will lose the massive 300 chessbucks I bet on him :-(
