jes47: If 41 ... Kg7 there are very quick and pretty mates waiting in the wings. 42. Qxf8+ Kxg6 43. Bh5+ Kxg4 44. Qh6+ and now 44. ... Kh4 45. Bf3+ Qh5 46. Qf4# or 44. ... Kf5 45. Qg6#

   Jan-03-23 J Werle vs Y Xiao, 2016 (replies)

jes47: I liked 34. Re7 and if Black plays EasilyConfused's suggestion of 34. ... Qg8 then 35 Ra7 keeps the momentum. Stockfish gives 35. ... Qg6 36. Rh8+ Qg8 37. Rah7 +10

   Dec-11-22 K Angelov vs D Prodanov, 1981

jes47: I tried 29. Be4 and stockfish rates my position as +5.5. So there's more than one way to skin this cat.

   Dec-06-22 F Bohatirchuk vs N Kopaev, 1938 (replies)

jes47: I prefer a line that no one has mentioned so far: 24. Nf6+ and now 24.... Kh8 25. Nf5 Rg8 26. Rd8 Bxg3 27. Rxg8# or 24... Kf8 and white has a choice of mates: 25. Nf5 Rxf5 26. Rxd8+ Ke7 27. Ng8# or 25. Nxe6+ +++

   Dec-05-22 A Kubbel vs Ragozin, 1929 (replies)

jes47: Another vote for Qf2

   Nov-17-22 Naiditsch vs T Sanikidze, 2010 (replies)

jes47: My inclination was 21 Nxd6+, forcing 21...Bxd6, 22 Rxe5 and white is crushing. If 22 ... Qg3 23 Re7+ Kxe7 24 Qa3+ and black can choose his mate, or 22... Qc2 23 Nxd7 transposes to the game. The problem with actual sequence is that after 21 Nxe5 dxe5 22 Rxe5 Qg6 23 Rxe7+ Kxe7 24 Qa3+ ...

   Nov-03-22 J Diaz vs L Ortega, 1984 (replies)

jes47: or 26. Qg8+ Ke7 27. Rd8 and the Qf8# can be delayed with spite checks, but it's coming.

   Oct-27-22 A Baburin vs Miles, 2000

jes47: Rxh3 was a gimme. I followed gxh3 with Bxh3 and was happy with an easy win. Kh8 is certainly good, but a win is a win.

   Oct-24-22 R Vera vs G Garcia, 1992 (replies)

jes47: An embarrassment of riches. The first thought, 24. Kc2 leaves a winning position, with two nights and two pawns for a rook. White can improve with 24. Ng8+ after which 25. Bc3+ picks up the queen. But 25. Bc5+ is the prettiest solution.

   Sep-19-22 M Bezold vs Kharlov, 1992 (replies)

jes47: Knight13: Stockfish calls it a win for white before 18 ... Nc2. There are a number of black moves that Stockfish does not like, but after 9 ... c6 black's game never recovers. Stockfish recommends 9... Nf6. White isn't faultless either: 12 Nc3 leads to a cleaner faster win. But you ...
