   Jun-22-12 Paul Morphy (replies)

metamorphysis: June 22, 2012 : exactly 175 years ago, on June 22, 1837, Paul Charles Morphy, "The Pride And Sorrow Of Chess", was born. "Paul Morphy was the greatest chess player that ever lived...no one ever was so far superior to the players of his time" ~ Dr. Emanuel Lasker "Technique, ...

metamorphysis: One of the best examples of a double rook sacrifice !

May-28-11 Reti vs Alekhine, 1925 (replies)

metamorphysis: The finest Queenless game that I've ever seen. It's so pleasing to work through the combinations of this came after the Queens come off the board.

   Jan-19-08 Robert James Fischer (replies)

metamorphysis: "'Tis all a Chequer-board of Nights and Days Where Destiny with Men for Pieces plays: Hither and thither moves, and mates, and slays, And one by one back in the Closet lays." ~ Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam,Edward FitzGerald's Translation.
