   Jan-29-05 Alexander Onischuk (replies)

narwhal: Is it just me, or does Alexander Onischuk bear a striking resemblance to Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson)? In my home country of the Ukraine, I mangaged to buy a copy of the film, "Bean" (it's very good).

Jan-20-05 Karpov vs Sadler, 1998 (replies)

narwhal: According to my friend from the states, this game was published in the New York Newsday's weekly column by Shelby Lyman.

   Jan-20-05 John Cochrane (replies)

narwhal: <horticulture>, that is a most fascinating point. Now you've got me on the "connection" bandwagon. It's a shame that I probably don't have many connexions...

   Dec-05-04 Pavel Smirnov (replies)

narwhal: Yes, I mean 100% sense. =)

Dec-04-04 Gligoric vs Janosevic, 1962 (replies)

narwhal: A particularly aggressive example of this sequence can be found in this little gem: L S Hwang vs Jong Wah Wong, 2003

Oct-10-04 Kramnik vs Leko, 2004 (replies)

narwhal: Not that anyone seems to care about computers and their analyses these days, but Fritz (worldchesschampionship.com) is giving a -0.34 score to Leko. Apparently, our silicon friends feel that Leko's "wildness" (however tamed) to possibly make Kramnik blink...has gone far enough. =)

   Jun-03-04 Alekhine vs M Schroeder, 1926 (replies)

narwhal: For all of you poking fun at Alekhine's hapless opponent for the Queen that ran around like wild after a faulty Scandinavian Defense (Center Game), here, in this case, Alekhine wins the Queen again, but at far too great a cost. =)

   May-10-04 Geza Maroczy (replies)

narwhal: I'd like to play him in a Queen endgame someday...after all, he played Korchnoi through a medium. The game was published in the March 1989 article of Pergammon Chess.

May-10-04 Kudrin vs Suba, 1984 (replies)

narwhal: Hey everyone, Kudrin was the guy who I think knocked out the Federo with a really cute Sicilian novelty that Byrne covered in the NYT. =) Just FYI--
