Jan-13-25 I Chirila vs Fressinet, 2024
|
oded789: White has two legal moves, both win and one of them is mate in 1, yet he resigned.
I've seen players resign in winning positions before, but nothing quite like this.
Strange things can happen in blitz... |

May-29-21 Dominguez Perez vs Carlsen, 2021
|
oded789: Magnus did not have a draw at a minimum. His king's position didn't just looked suspect, it was. Dominguez missed a very nice win:
28.Rd4!! gxf3 (28...g5 29.Rxg4 wins similarly) 29.Rg4! Kh5 (29...g5 30.Nf4! mates) 30.Rg3 g5 31.Nf4+! Kh4 32.Rdg1 gxf4 33.Rg7 and mate next move. |

Feb-27-21 Reshevsky vs Z Margalit, 1958
|
oded789: It's nice to give a Stockfish analysis built in, but in doing it the order of Black's 5th and 7th moves got mixed up again... |

Jan-28-21 A Vooremaa vs V Zakarian, 1964
|
oded789: No, 7...h6 is still okay.
It's the next move, 8...gxf6?? (instead of the natural and correct Nxf6, with only a slight plus for White at best) that allows the winning combination. |
