   Aug-18-13 Shirov vs V Malaniuk, 1989 (replies)

peterjam: I am not sure about Shirov's combination. After 39 Rc8, Nf3 immediately , how does white win? For example 40 Kg2,Nd2 41 R8c7,Qf8 42 Ne6, Qg8! 43 Nd8 Qd5 black is winning. If instead 42 de6, Qg8 43 Be8, Re8 44 Rd1 Nf3 45 Rf7 Qf7! black has a winning ending.

   Aug-04-13 H van Dongen vs E Wijsman, 2005 (replies)

peterjam: This game is a bit scrappy - black misses quite a few roads to victory (a nice opportunity is 64.. e3! with the immediate threat 65.. Rh6 mating and with the pawn and knight forks deciding after 65 Rd4, Rd4. Also it is not between famous names and the drawing line is not super ...

Jul-28-13 Geller vs Averbakh, 1954 (replies)

peterjam: Saw some of the main continuation but also I considered 41 bc and after 42 Bf6, Bf6 black is also clearly winning with bishop and pawns v Q - if you believe Fritz, although it is quite a lot slower than the game. 42 Qc3 is also reasonable but again with black still winning without ...

   Jul-15-13 A Ssegwanyi vs R Phillips, 2012 (replies)

peterjam: <White missed a more immediate win by Rh7 on move 29> 29 Rh7 Rh7 30 Qc3 Rh7 (anything else 31 Qc8 and Qg8 mate)31 Qc8 Be8 32 Qe8 and Ra7

   Jun-15-13 F Roeder vs W Zbikowski, 1983 (replies)

peterjam: <24... Kh7 25. Rxg7+ Kxg7 26. Bd4+ Kh7 27. Rxf5!! Bxd3 28. Rxh5+Kg6 29. Rg5+ Kh7 30.Rg7# is a nice line>

   Apr-24-13 S Atalik vs B Baum, 1998 (replies)

peterjam: If black is prepared to do anything other than resign 31 Qf7 is about as fast as Rd6 e.g.31 Qf7,Qg7 32 Rd6,Bd7 33 Rd7, Kc8 34.Rc7,Kb8 35 Rb7, Kc8 (35...Ka8 36 Qa2#)36 Qe6, Kd8 37 Rd1 or 31 Qf7,Be6 32 Rd6 transposes 32... cd 34 Qe6 is about as good as c7. Note that 31 Qf7 foils the ...

Apr-14-13 Kasparov vs Tal, 1987 (replies)

peterjam: First 21 Qg3, Qg5 22 Rg4,Qe3+ lets black off the hook. After 20 -, Qg5 21 h4, its cute that the knight cannot be captured and 21 - ,Qd8 gives the game continuation with a difference as 22 Qg3 is then decisive.
