rishi: I got it...black is devastated on the king side...powerful bishop a knight and a queen against literally nothing to support the poor king.. |

Jun-15-05 T Hillarp Persson vs J Polgar, 2003
|
rishi: I think 9..f5 is not very pleasing for black as there is a lot of pressure down the a2-g8 diagonal and the pawn on e6 is definitely weak. I must admit that i do not know what other move could be better for black at move 9. NimzoIndian is normally bad for black when he lets white have ... |

rishi: the puzzle, i would say, has not made justice to the game. I sure would appreciate a move like 20. Bf5!! in this game rather than a deflection on move 43) which is too simple. |

rishi: hi bears, I was thinking if Kd8, Bf5+ then Q is lost with a big tempo for black which gains even more material. (i can see losing the knight too...plus a pawn on 7th rank, two bishops!) if instead of queen d7, if nd5 then r*d5+ followed by bg5+ is equally embarassing for black.

rishi: hi <szyymek> I think after Bxg5, hxg5 looks like compulsory. otherwise, Rxf6 is a threat. I dont see any good imbalance in black's position. BTW talking about imbalances, what is the most common opinion about SIlman's book on how to reassess your chess?!!. post replies but of ... |

Apr-11-05 J Mieses vs M Brody, 1908

rishi: I think "white to play and win" doesnt necessarily require us to find Rh8+. on the other hand "white to play with best continuation" ofcourse requires Rh8+...but anyway it isn't very hard to find...
good game anyway... |
