Feb-06-14 Aronian vs Nakamura, 2014 (replies)

taobert: I'm not using the logic that since Nakamura isn't Fischer, he is no good. I'm stating the fact that NAKAMURA was the one to declare himself the ONLY threat to Carlsen. He's an arrogant Japanese brat. We can chant USA USA USA instead and forget debating this issue if you prefer?

   Jan-06-14 S Williams vs M Gagunashvili, 2006

taobert: The absolutely WORST finish out of an absolutely amazing sequence of moves. The only analogy I can compare this to is your having sex with the last woman on Earth to save the human race, you finally find her after years of searching and all you have to do is ejaculate, but no, ...

Jul-11-13 Kamsky vs Grischuk, 2013 (replies)

taobert: It's quite amazing to see so far at move 21. exd6 that somehow black managed to win this position. His knight is on a bad track- and he's very passive.

Mar-19-13 Morozevich vs Carlsen, 2007 (replies)

taobert: Was Kd7 the first clue things weren't going as planned?

Jan-01-13 Leko vs Carlsen, 2008 (replies)

taobert: 21. ... Qh4? I'm baffled at this move

   Jan-01-13 Rozentalis vs Carlsen, 2007

taobert: It's hardly a quick win, Nf3 Qh5 h3 Rf6 Nc5 Rg6 Ne1 Be2 wins exchange but the evaluation is only -1.2 in black's favor, which means white has a grip of compensation. Still unclear.

Jan-01-13 Carlsen vs Topalov, 2012 (replies)

taobert: WRONG. This position is dead lost for white- and it amazes me that somehow black chooses to find the losing move. The more games I analyze of Carlsen's the more I'm feeling some kind of conspiracy here. I wonder, if since he is the poster child of chess, sometimes games are "given ...

Dec-31-12 Carlsen vs Nakamura, 2011 (replies)

taobert: Most of the posts I've been reading are highly informative and constructive. I think Frogbert gets carried away sometimes, but his posts help generate conversation. Nobody is bashing Nakamura for his horrible opening play. (haha) Actually I don't even see where Naka made serious ...

Dec-31-12 Carlsen vs Dominguez Perez, 2008 (replies)

taobert: A very instructive game! Engine recommends 18. f5! threatening f6, at which black must reply f6 himself or h5! I feel its in spirit of position to sacrifice some of white's king safety in order to make progress- at least that kind of swashbuckling style is what truly makes chess ...

Dec-30-12 Carlsen vs Anand, 2008 (replies)

taobert: Playing into Anand's defensive strengths in a variation which practically guarantees you'll lose if you don't mate is a tad adventurous. Other than that, engine is recommending 19. g5! and not trading on e5 with the bishop. Play can continue 19. ... Nfd7, 20. Nd4 Bc4 21. Be2 Bxe2 ...
