I'm a beginner. Started playing this past summer ('03) when my 6-year-old son expressed an interest in chess. I'd never played, but started learning the game for his sake and got hooked myself. Now I'm crazy about chess. No rating; haven't played in tournaments yet, but I'm learning the game, playing on Chessmaster 9000, and working toward the day when I'll be good enough to play human opponents. I'm having a ball with this. Live in the Midwest.

tpanelas: Most Internet sources say this game was played October 17, 1956, which would make tomorrow its 50th anniversary. David Shenk, however, in his new book *The Immortal Game*, gives *November* 17 as the date. Can anyone confirm the right date?
