Hi! My name is Marko, I'm 18 years old, living in Zagreb, Croatia. I learned to play chess as a kid but only last year I became a true chess fanatic. I don't have any official rating, but my Internet performance is around 1650. My all-time favorite players are Adolf Anderssen, Alexandre Alekhine and Boris Spassky. I fancy Anderssen because he is a quintessential swashbuckler, and therfore a symbol of romantic chess times, altough he was hardly the best player of his time. I belive that Alekhine was the strongest player ever. I especially value his incredible performances in blindfold games. I like to belive I'm doing a good job copycathing Spassky's style. Many people consider Tal ultimate attacking player, but Spassky was probably even more dangerous, while being very solid when defending. With white, I play 75% of 1. e4 and 25% of 1.d4/1.Nf3 I enjoy playing King's Gambit and Scotch game after 1.e4, avoiding Ruy Lopez in general.

   Jul-09-04 Smyslov vs V Mikenas, 1949 (replies)

zagor: Nice game by Mikenas against future world champion. Smyslov had to save himself with a threat of a perpetual: 27...Qxe3 28. Qh5+ Kg8 29. Qf7+ Kh8 30. Qf7+ Kg8

zagor: It's over. 0-1. Too bad this match had to happen so early in the tournament, both players deserve to progress.

   Jun-25-04 Z Kozul vs Rublevsky, 2004 (replies)

zagor: Kozul allows dangerous attack and goes rook down, but amazingly recuperates, uses huge space advantage, pushes his pawns up and wins the game. Incredible. Good example how useless material advantage can be.

zagor: Radjabov just had incredible game in Tripoli. Sacrificing his rook by move 6!!! After that, he's the guy I'll be supporting...
