I learned the game in the aftermath of Fischer/Spassky while in high school, back in 1972. Helped to start a chess club in school. After graduation, I joined the Navy, and left the game behind. The old flame came calling, and in the last two years, have returned to the game. I was playing 1400 chess at the time I joined the Navy, and now any 7 year old who learns the game can probably beat me.

My favorite players include Morphy as well as Andersen, Alekhine as well as Capablanca, Petrosian as well as Spassky, Fischer, and Kasparov.

Dec-09-24 Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (replies)

weisyschwarz: Fat lady sat back down. Gukesh offered cheesy play today. He needed the rest day today to clear his head.

weisyschwarz: I see hard-fought draws for the rest of the games. I do believe the fat lady has got up to sing.

weisyschwarz: What happened? Ding must be embarrassed. Did the rush of moves make him lose concentration? He had a won game, but a few bad moves with N and B, and it was all dissipated.

   May-25-23 Lagno vs D Wagner, 2023 (replies)

weisyschwarz: Lagno did not play her best.

weisyschwarz: Game 10. Well, that was like Muzychuk vs. Muzychuk.

weisyschwarz: Thanks <beatgiant> and <SChessevsky>.

Dec-07-21 Carlsen vs Nepomniachtchi, 2021 (replies)

weisyschwarz: Will he stay with the Petrov, or will we see a Sicilian?

Dec-04-21 Carlsen - Nepomniachtchi World Championship Match (2021) (replies)

weisyschwarz: From the Chess.com website: "For game six, the players spent a staggering seven hours and 47 minutes at the board and finished 17 minutes past midnight in Dubai. The game started on Friday and ended on Saturday—something that hadn't happened since adjournments were abolished

Dec-01-21 Carlsen vs Nepomniachtchi, 2021 (replies)

weisyschwarz: <Whitehat: Carlsen will probably be content to reach the rapid tiebreaks without a single decisive result.> Nah! Nepo is not Fabi. Nepo can fight in that arena. MC has to do it in this segment.
