C'mon Mark, step up your bookie game!

Penguincw: They've been doing it for a while now. ;)

In other news: I see 2700chess and chessdom still have it wrong. :p However, I'm not going to worry about it anymore. ;)

FSR: Whatever happened to Pick Threes? You haven't had a single one since before your three-Daily-Double binge. And who is <Goalith>?

Well, the reason why I haven't included one is I'm afraid there might not be enough interest in them. However, I do see that the pool has consistently been in the quadruple digits, so P3 will return for the next round (although it may be multi-tournament, if that's fine).

< And who is <Goalith>? >

I have no idea. I'll try arranging the letters to something else (perhaps something that actually makes sense). ;)

Aug-02-15  MarkFinan: Well done Fred. You're back in the 2000+ league. And Goliath is a play on words because the bet is on DAVID Howell. David and Goliath?? You've never heard that story?? I never hardly went to school and I know of that story, lol.

Penguincw: A couple of things I'd like to comment on.

Firstly, check out the odds for "Draw in 25 moves or under" in Politiken Cup Rd 10: Timman - Naroditsky.

13:1 for a short last round draw (seriously?)!

I also see a <six> way tie for Politiken Cup: WINNER coming; is that a record?

As for the HZ Chess Tournament, I see there could be some PGN issues on the lower boards. However, I only need the results, so I can rely on chess-results for that. I see there's a draw on Board 10, so that should clear up the bets.

FSR: <MarkFinan> I know about Goliath. The bookie, before correcting it, had "David and <Goalith>" - not Goliath.

Penguincw: On a side note, in the David and (whatever) story, isn't David actually the underdog?

If that's the case, then I see that here, he's the favourite, facing underdogs...

(oh, and if you're wondering, I'm holding off some bets until chess-results posts all the results for the round, just to be safe; thanks for your patience, and sorry for any inconvenience)

FSR: Yes, here David is also Goliath.

Penguincw: Yeah, let's hope this never happens again.

Politiken Cup: WINNER

Also check out what happens when you click "Longer list" for more events. D:

So, tell me about the odds you received.

Probably record for largest tie, and one of the few times where more than half of the lines win.

FSR: R. Pert-Arkell was drawn in 24, thus deciding the "Civic Holiday" bet.

Penguincw: Not to mention Hawkins-Hill ends in 1-0 after just 21 moves. :)
Aug-03-15  MarkFinan: Fred. I lost on that one too. If Howell loses, which is looking likely, I have the B-D-D ticket.
Aug-03-15

FSR: It looks like Howell will lose soon, thus deciding both the Pick Three and the David and Goliath wagers.
Aug-03-15  MarkFinan: Ahhh! I forgot about that wager. Howell just flagged so I should still rejoin the 2000+ posse.

Penguincw: I never realized how many good bets I could've put up, had I knew more.

For instance, Summerscale-Emms ended with 99...Kxe5. What a thrill an "Epic Game" bet could've made.

Now time to wait for the next round pairings (which usually don't come out until I have to leave and don't have access to the Internet).

WannaBe: <Penguincw> Take Biel as an example, if, before the tournament started, "Would there be an epic game" wager would have attracted $$ from me.

For some odd reason, I just get a kick out of game(s) that feature two combatants that just refuse to quit. And will fight it out down to bare King v. King.

=))

Especially if a tournament have someone as "stubborn" Carlsen, he'd fight on until that .15 become .46 then .89 and win the darn game.

Frederico's stepping up to the ceegee bookie plate, I may need to become a lawman and cease with my wicked ways, lol.

<For some odd reason, I just get a kick out of game(s) that feature two combatants that just refuse to quit. And will fight it out down to bare King v. King.>

Me too but that's because we're old, lol. Kids nowadays want 20 move theoretical 0.0000000000 eval draws. Even I want Karpov to attempt a comeback :)

Don't get jel jel, Frederick. Lol.

And if my mate Antik can win today I'll be overtaking you. You could write on the back of a stamp what I actually know about the bloke, but I like his name.

Lol :)

Aug-03-15  sydbarrett: I very often bid in bets with little activity and which thus have very high payoffs. But I saw no chance in hell that Howell would lose as white to such a low-rated player, so i didn't bother bidding black-draw-draw. I swear I usually would. Part of that jackpot is mine, I tell ya. $%!

  Chessgames Bookie: ♔ ANNOUNCEMENT/NOTICE ♔

This here is an announcement/notice. In a couple of days, the Russian Superfinal tournament will start. This tournament will be the main tournament until the Sinquefield Cup.

With that in mind, does anyone know a better site for it than http://ruchess.ru/en/? They haven't released anything about the tournament itself, and I'd like to get a "WINNER" bet open. The schedule of the tournament will also determine when <Pay Day> will be.

If anyone has information that would be helpful, that'd be much appreciated. Thanks. :)
