Sneaky: < NH Chess: Rd 7: Beliavsky vs Caruana : Beliavsky [cash in ticket] 300 YOU WIN! COLLECT 1137 > What have you guys got against Beliavsky? 3:1 odds with the WHITE pieces? Really?

Everybody is all giddy about the new up-and-comers but don't you know about "THE RUSSIAN WALL" ??? I have an book about Kasparov that says that was Beliavsky's nickname in his heyday. Hehehe

Aug-30-09  Shajmaty: As on Aug 18th, how can we bet for the 9th round of NH, if yesterday's bets have not been refunded yet!!?? Less than 10 minutes...
Aug-30-09  Shajmaty: Less than 1 minute for Round 9, bets for Round 8 not refunded. This is not what it used to be!

SwitchingQuylthulg: More importantly, how can we balance the odds for those who bet huge chessbucks on an outcome early without realizing that a) the others would have no money available to balance the odds and b) even they themselves are now lost for chessbucks to bail themselves out with?

This kind of thing can ruin the whole leg for an enterprising leaderboarder.

Aug-30-09  wordfunph: <SwitchingQuylthulg: This kind of thing can ruin the whole leg for an enterprising leaderboarder.>

Correct.

Loanshark has been my best friend when i joined the Negative Club..

Aug-31-09  technical draw: Well, well, <Sneaky> on the leaderboard. Welcome. I hope you can maintain at least that 10 spot.

Sep-02-09  NakoSonorense: I forgot how to win at this game...
Sep-03-09  SloVice: 3...2...1... I'm debt free! Freedom!!
Sep-04-09  capatal: The late outcome postings and late payouts, take the fun out of the game for everyone playing.

Surely this is not up to the high standards and values of chessgames.com.

Please help immediately and consistently!

...(Or the Loanshark might be sleeping with the fish.)

Sep-04-09  wordfunph: <Chessgames Bookie> i owe loanshark $40 a day huh! i just won $3,445 in Pick3 (7th round of Montreal) but no paycheck yet.
Sep-04-09  malthrope: Good News! All outstanding betting tickets are now paid in FULL. ;)

Yeah! :))

I will say this, although I fully agree with the sentiments and concerns posted here re: <ChessBookie>'s failure to pay outstanding betting tickets in a timely manner. I've always tried to be a lenient as possible when the <GAME> isn't running as smoothly as it should be...

In fact, this led me to creating <ChessBookie> betting Axioms and my Rule #1 is:

<"Having $money$ is everything!">

Since this takes care of all the loose ends, mishaps and circumstances beyond our control. ;)

In any event, this job (being responsible as the <ChessBookie>) has got to be one the toughest assignments that one may have here on <chessgames.com>. There is not much time off or long breaks given (pretty much), you must be attentive every day (just about), and every gross mistake made is surely going to be pointed out in triplicate! ~lol~

Remember this one?

<"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.">

It's often thought of as the official USPS motto, which it is not. It's taken from the works of Herodotus and describes the expedition of the Greeks against the Persians under Cyrus, about 500 B.C. The Persians operated a system of mounted postal couriers, and the sentence describes the fidelity with which their work was done.

The quote above is however proudly posted as an inscription at the General Post Office in New York City at 8th Avenue and 33rd Street.

For my part I do my best to help out the <ChessBookie> when simple betting mistakes (payoff date, start of round times, time of bets end, duplicate bets, and duplicate rounds posted, etc.) are made. Many of us do that in fact. :) So, lets all try to be patient as possible while <ChessBookie> gets back into gear with his betting face on primed and ready for action! :D

Moving right along...

<SloVice> you just made my ~ChessBookie Betting Quote of the Month!~ ;)

Posted in my Profile yesterday...

PS: There is going to be a lot of betting action coming up shortly as the Summer leg comes to an end. If interested, just peruse my <Current Chess Events> listings in the September calendar now posted in my Profile. :)

PPS: <capatal: [...] ...(Or the Loanshark might be sleeping with the fish.)>

~ROFL~ Now I'll have to check all quote references in your chessforum <"sleeping with the fish"> which must be every chessplayers worst nightmare! :P

Sep-04-09  wordfunph: gracias <Chessgames Bookie> for $3,445...my biggest paycheck ever whoa!

My next target is to get out of the Negative Club...Pick3 is the only hope.

Sep-06-09  gunsan: Please Mr. Chessbookie, no delay with payouts. Please, it takes the fun of the games. Gunsan
Sep-06-09  wordfunph: official site of Montreal with no 9th round result yet..

http://www.echecsmontreal.ca/pairin...

...and round 10 is about to begin.

Sep-06-09  Shajmaty: Late payout again, <ChessBookie>. Montreal Round 9 tickets still pending to be paid... and the round has been over for more than 12 hours! C'mon!
Sep-06-09  Shajmaty: <ChessBookie>!!! Less than 90 minutes for the 10th round and 9th bets still not refunded. This ain't fun any longer. This last month has been a shame here!
Sep-06-09  Shajmaty: <wordfunph: official site of Montreal with no 9th round result yet.. http://www.echecsmontreal.ca/pairin...

...and round 10 is about to begin.>

It seems to be a competition among the organizers, ChessGames (tournamenty forum) and ChessBookie... to prove who is performing the worst!

Sep-06-09  Shajmaty: 55 minutes for the 10th round, bets for the 9th not refunded yet. Not fun any longer. I quit.
Sep-06-09  bharatiy: <shajmaty> even the official website did not show results, that was the point of <wordfunph> I dont think chessbookie or CG can take on themselves to call organizers and get results, especially for virtual gambling. In general Chessbookie is doing exceptional job and we all should thank him. Have Fun!

Chessgames Bookie: We still haven't payed the 9th round of the Montreal tournament because we have not received the games (or even the results) from the official site. Did their webmaster decide to take a vacation in the middle of the event, or did something else happen that we don't know about?

If anybody has some actual information about what's going on in Montreal it would be greatly appreciated.

Sep-06-09  Bruckner: These are the results from round 9 of the Montreal International Chess Tournament 2009. I am keeping records of it. I hope it helps.

Y. Shulman 1/2 S. Mazé
M. Bluvshtein 1/2 V. Bhat
A. Moiseenko 1-0 T. Roussel-Roozmon
A. Naiditsch 1/2 S. Tiviakov
A. Onischuk 1/2 É. Bacrot
V. Akobian 1/2 A. Kovalyov
