| Jan-31-10 | | NakoSonorense: Bookie, can you please cash the tickets from round 12? I won 2,200 and I'd like to put it all on the table for the last round. And no, I have no intention of paying up the 5k debt I have. Thanks! |
|
| Jan-31-10 | | acirce: Damn, I won the only r12 bet that I really wanted to lose, and lost all the others. |
|
| Jan-31-10 | | acirce: Nah, not all the others. I won one small bet, but that basically meant nothing anyway. |
|
| Jan-31-10 | | NakoSonorense: <acirce> The odds for Anand were very hard to resist, weren't they? Pity I could only bet 300 on it. |
|
| Jan-31-10 | | Barok Espinosa: 2.9 hours 'til closing time and still we haven't got our winnings. |

| Feb-01-10 | | malthrope: <Sneaky: A piece of advice to all would-be chess gamblers: << HAVE FAITH IN VISHY >> [...]> Nicely done <Sneaky> :) Going from position #41 - $2,695 to the #1 spot with $31,927 in glorious c-bucks! ;) Indeed <"In Vishy we (should have) trust!"> :D - Mal
PS: Don't tell that to Topalov! ~lol~ :P |

| Feb-01-10 | | dakgootje: <A piece of advice to all would-be chess gamblers: << HAVE FAITH IN VISHY >>> I had a limited amount of faith in him; think I bet 250 on him versus kramnik instead of your 2k :P ---
btw, mr chessbookie, sir, I don't mean to be offensive in any way, shape or form [wouldn't want to bite the hand that feeds me chessbucks, would I?] <but> why are the lines for the Gibraltar chess festival closed so very early? The rounds only start at 3pm (gmt+1) while the lines close at noon! Those 3 hours are in rather stark contrast with the 5 minutes (or similar) of the Corus-lines. |

| Feb-01-10 | | technical draw: Sneaky on top the leader board. He lives up to his user name! Well done. I was only able to sneak into the top ten. |
|
| Feb-01-10 | | dakgootje: Thank you for improving the closing-times of the lines! :) |

| Feb-02-10 | | dakgootje: Must seem like I am spamming this place.
In any case, at the time of writing (9:05am est) the Gibraltar games just started while there are still 25 minutes left to bet on the games. Maybe best to nullify the bets made after the games started if possible? |

Maybe best to nullify the bets made after the games started if possible?> No <dak> you're certainly not! :) As per our discussions yesterday (in your c-forum) I immediately published everything (re: round start times for Moscow and Gibraltar) in <Current Chess Events> about the correct starting times for all rounds in my award winning Caissar profile (two years in a row now). I fully second your reccomendation. ;) All bets placed for Gibraltar after 9 AM EST be rejected and refunded <.> No exceptions <.> <Moscow: The rounds start at 14:00 and last round at 09:00 (rounds 1-9 start at 8 AM EST).> Notes: <ChessBookie> is one hour behind the correct starting time. It's a 10 round Swiss system. <Gibraltar: The rounds start at 15:00 and last round at 10:00 (rounds 1-9 start at 8 AM EST).> Notes: <ChessBookie> has extended this bet one-half hour past the correct round starting time. It's a 10 round Swiss system. TIA :))

Anyway I'm not quite sure what the idea behind your normalizing all times to UTC+1 is...? |

Yes thanks <Switch> I forget to correct that mistake too (in the 'copy & paste' lines). Since 09:00 is of course correct as posted in my <Current Chess Events> as of yesterday. <Anyway I'm not quite sure what the idea behind your normalizing all times to UTC+1 is...?> It's just (or so I thought) the times the rounds actually start in the country they are being played in. Then I only post the adjusted EST times. Anyway, it's back to the games. :)

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <It's just (or so I thought) the times the rounds actually start in the country they are being played in.> I haven't actually double-checked, but going by the name I'd guess that Moscow Open (2010) is played in Moscow, which is UTC+3. |

 | | Chnebelgrind: <ChessBookie has extended this bet one-half hour past the correct round starting time>
It is a kind of halftime betting. It requires some skill not only in betting, but also in chess.
After half an hour personally I had no problems to pre-estimate the outcome of the games. So I could make a little advance on the leaderboard. |

 | | moronovich: Re. booking and timezones.
There was this evning back in the 80ies after a day at the races.Where I followed this old dude after the races.Who told me about this house in the very nighbourhood.A gamblingplace during WW2.Were he and his fellas has found this victim.A man who had earned many money on bussinessaffairs.Which not all could stand the test in broad daylight. But he liked to gamble and brag about his winnings.A lot of whiskey and direct transmission from the horsetrack in Paris. But so he thought. In fact the clock on the wall didn“t show the right time but was one hour wrong which was why this man almost always ended up on the wrong side of a winingticket..But off course they let him win a few bets now and then ;) And I could imagine that Paul Newmann and Robert Redford are smiling along the lines... |
