Oct-29-15  TheFocus: <syd> It was some late night calculations. Mine went up over 200 CBs after I left.
Oct-29-15  sydbarrett: Thanks for the response. Still not sure what it means. Recalculation from what?
Oct-29-15  sydbarrett: I find the bookie game entertaining. Wish more people would participate.

Penguincw: I'd just like to say, good job <Annie> of knowing what to do regarding the end of daylight savings. :) To be honest, if I were bookie this time, I wouldn't know what to do. :P

Penguincw: I kept forgetting to bet, and missed R4 and R5, but caught R6, and I'm still hanging on!

Chessgames Bookie: Note: I put up a couple of bets for Bad Wiessee, now that it occurred to them to post pairings in time. :s

<Penguin> thanks. :) In case of working with imminent daylight time changes, what you do is use the excellent TimeAndDate site's timezone converter http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo... (one of the links I put in the Bookie's top menu), before *every round*, and make sure to input the game's date as well as hour. They'll do the rest. ;)

Nov-03-15  sydbarrett: That Bilbao tournament was such a farce man... nothing but draws... total anti-chess. I skipped betting the last two rounds even though I coulda made money easily by betting draw... principles before money.
Nov-03-15  sydbarrett: I skipped betting *in PROTEST, I meant to say
Nov-04-15  sydbarrett: There's nothing to bet on tonight! :(

Chessgames Bookie: Couldn't stay up late yesterday, and they still hadn't posted pairings last time I checked.

I'll try to wait them out today. Also, I've dug up another ongoing tournament, I'll post bets for that later today too:

Penguincw: Again, thanks for all your work <Bookie>. :D

BTW, good job for enhancing the announcements! I never would've guessed to do that in a million years.

Nov-06-15  MarkFinan: How come that loanshark won't lend me any money when I only owe him a relatively small amount? And for those of us who don't know the ratings and players, it would be nice if the ratings were displayed because some people don't have time to look them up.

Annie K.: <Mark> those "more info" links that I add to bets almost always show the players' ratings in an easily viewable format. It's worth your while to check them out. :)

As for the loanshark, you've asked that before... several times. ;p Here's one link with <Switch> explaining how loans work: Chessgames Bookie chessforum (kibitz #9105)

<Penguin> thanks. It's a fairly simple html trick, and I love playing with html. :)

Nov-06-15  sydbarrett: Zhigalko and Khenkin drew after only 12 moves...? Can someone arrange for a meeting in a locked room between Zhigalko, Khenkin, and me?

Penguincw: < sydbarrett: Bachmann Turned On Overdrive! I'm BackkkkkkkkkkkkkKK >

It seems like <syd> and I have opposite betting strategies. I play it safe, but 2 upsets today, and I got crushed. :( Meanwhile, <syd> is sitting on a pile of cash.

Nov-08-15  sydbarrett: My betting strategy does not rely on betting blindly on upsets. I would love to elaborate, Penguin amigo, but I can't let my secrets out to all I'm afraid.
Nov-08-15  Forrest Gimp: Its impossible to play it safe on a Morozevich game. Bless him for that.
Nov-08-15  sydbarrett: I hope we won't have to wait till European Team Championship to bet again. Maybe some computer chess bets? I finally rented the movie "Computer Chess" from the library; I hope it doesn't suck too much.

Nov-08-15  WinKing: <Karposian> passed up <Penguincw> lol. Let me get some popcorn I don't want to miss this show. Queensbury rules gentlemen no hitting below the belt. ;)

No Queensbury Rules here, <WinKing>!

Between me and <Penguincw>, no shot is too cheap, and no smear is too unbecoming :)

<That moment when you <finally> pass your enemy after a <month> of trying. :)>

That's right, smarty pants. Surpassing you took a little longer than I had expected, but now I intend to keep it that way. Good luck trying to take the no.9 spot back!

Chessgames Bookie: OK folks, I've just put up some TCEC Superfinal bets to tide us over.

Already tried to do that a few days ago, but they hadn't put up game numbers yet then, and since at this stage all games are between Komodo and Stockfish, that's a necessary reference point for us.

In other news: except for the European Team Championship, we'll have a bit of a scarcity on interesting tournaments until December 3, but from there on, we will be booked solid. :)

Now a bit more on forum posts: I don't mind banter, but keep it light and not too obnoxious. Why? Because this is a support forum, and that means that I don't want anybody with legitimate questions, or information, to hesitate to post here, for fear of becoming some trash-talker's next target.

No personal blogging here either, regardless of where you are on the leaderboard. For the last time, <sydbarrett> - if I have to warn you again, I may just decide to put you on a vacation from this forum for a while.

Have a nice day. ;p

Annie

Nov-09-15  sydbarrett: I was just having friendly chit-chat with Penguin. But ok :X
