Uncovering the Truth About M61MG

Jun-07-09  PinnedPiece: <ET> You may or may not know that <MageofMaple> has ridiculed me and implied that I am a complete buffoon trying to play at Sherlock Holmes in this whole M61MG book affair.

However, if you were to respond to my urging and my request and make a full provable disclosure of the critical events, wouldn't <MageofMaple> then look like the idiot!!!!

How about it?

chancho: <Ed Trice: Alex did come over my house and thought my girlfriend at the time was my wife. His mistake.>

So Moiseyev arrived at Trice's house with his son, Trice did not bother to introduce the people who were in the house with him and Moiseyev is forced to assume that it was his wife and daughter? How the hell did Trice ever get sponsors to raise 15 million with such piss poor social skills? Answer: he couldn't. The more likely scenario was that Trice introduced his wife and daughter to Moiseyev.

Jun-07-09  JonDSouzaEva: This is more like it! I love it when Trice posts because it is so easy to point out his lies.

Here's an archive of gothicchess.org from 2003:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040423...

<I was there with my wife Ellie>

I have no doubt that Ellie has since seen the light and kicked Trice out, but this is conclusive proof that in 2003 Trice was referring to someone as his wife.

Incidentally, in another column in the "Random Ramblings of the Gothic Chess Patriarch" Trice refers to his six year old daughter.

Jun-07-09  sharro: <Ed Trice: I told him I would make it 100% obvious who I was, wearing that shirt every day I was there.>

Where'd you get the shirt, why were you wearing it, and why did you remove the pic from the blog? I think those are the questions the community is wondering about.

Jun-07-09  capatal: Skedaddling <Ed Trice>:

"He's invoking his Fifth Amendment rights." - Jim Bartle

Jun-09-09  MrMelad: <Trice: Labate was mad when the Canadian eBay auction ended. But as was pointed out by another poster, why? Shouldn't he be glad? He just "dodged a bullet", in his own words. He was saved from having to pay thousands of dollars.>

Fantastic logic Mr Trice, so if you would have, for instance, allmost experienced a gang rape - you would have been delighted!

Jun-09-09  GeauxCool: The problem with Trice's questions and actions is that they don't appear to reflect his own position. For example:

<1. If Labate, as he claims, knew about this since August of 2007, why do people say I did this "when Fischer was dying"? Didn't Fischer enter the hospital in October? And he was nowhere near dying then blah, blah. >

NOT: "This book was Bobby's last wish, and whether he lived or died, I was going to make it happen."

Another example is in #2, which already suggests, <"If Labate knew about this (scam) for so long...">

NOT: In December, I promptly sent Mr.Labate a partial copy of the manuscript, in order to quell his misgivings about this historically important literary event.

Jun-09-09  sharro: Isnt this interesting: Even after losing the lawsuit, Trice continues to try to lay the blame on Labate, despite mounds of evidence pointing to Trice as the culprit. (the T shirt, the emails, Einarsson's comments, Joshka's admission, etc etc)
Jun-09-09  PinnedPiece: <Me: Does it make sense to you that Labate A. Paid to have the books printed, then
B. Arranged to have them be sold on eBay, then
C. Become the high bidder for the books he paid for?>

I am silly, actually. It may make perfect sense in Ed Trice's world that you put something up for auction, then become a bidder yourself to create a bidding war, if possible, willing to buy back your inventory if the price doesn't skyrocket enough.

Yes, this type of operation *might* make perfect sense. "Don't you know how these things are done, pinned piece?"

Sad that I have to engage in conversation with <ET> by self-proxy.

Look him up on the go big network. He was there begging for funding. http://www.gobignetwork.com/profile...

Jun-11-09  Jim Bartle: The Go Big profile states: "The rules of chess are changing. Gothic Chess represents the new game as it will be played from now on."

Could any investor be dumb enough to believe that?

Somebody might believe that Gothic chess could become a popular sideline, but to bet your money on it superseding the traditional game would be ludicrous.

Then again, I'm reading a book called "Liar's Poker" about Salomon Brothers and bond trading in the 80s, and I've learned that screwing your customers is a way of life.

chancho: How can anyone resort to lying on a regular basis and not feel hinky about it?
Jun-12-09  whiskeyrebel: Two of the four pathological liars my wife and I have knowingly dealt with over the years have lied about having a military service record. They all lied about trivial stuff such as what they ate for breakfast. Why? They get off on fooling you. The ultimate score for one of these creeps is conning a spouse into supporting their line of bull. I've learned to be very suspicious of people whom I catch telling seemingly innocent lies now. That includes a certain suspicious charachter discussed often on this page.
Jun-12-09  rogge: <They get off on fooling you>

They get off from the attention they receive.

This page provides all the attention <a certain suspicious charachter> could ask for.

chancho: If the kind of attention for someone to "get off" is to be thought of as a major grade buffoon and bs artist, than a <certain suspicious charachter> must be getting all he's asking for and then some.
Jun-12-09  Jim Bartle: I think you hit the nail on the head there, whiskeyrebel. Trice seems to enjoy fooling people over and over, wanting to feel superior to them.

That little blurb on the Go Big is just pathetic: "We are currently hosting a match..." It's meant to impress people not interesting in "investing," and if somebody does fall for it, he gets a good laugh.

Jun-12-09  GeauxCool: <JB> Wouldn't you think it natural that certain people who were laughed at would come forward to denounce a <certain suspicious charachter>?

Jun-14-09  RStorm: I've been reading this M61MG discussion and have to say i've been very impressed with the detective work that has been done here.

But I have a different question, a simpler one I think. When he wrote M60MG, Fischer was near the peak of his ability.

My question is after 35 years have passed since Fischer was at his peak, would his ability to improve his own analysis still be there. When I mean to ask is, would Bobby have been capable of it in 2007? (Or any time after 1992 when his chess playing was clearly less good than his peak in 1972)

I tend to believe not, but the question has been bouncing around my thoughts lately.

Jun-14-09  MrMelad: <RStorm> Of course he was he had access to Rybka and Fritz. But that's not the question, the question is did he wrote the book with title M61MG and the answer is no, he didn't.

IMlday: I have a problem with the detective's conclusion. They consulted Jabba the Hut and Guido the Assassin and they checked Han Solo's rap sheet with the Imperial Customs and Excise people. All the apparent indications were that Han Solo was a mercenary scoundrel not to be trusted. The detectives then jumped to the conclusion that "Old Ben Kenobi" could not be Obobiwan Kenobi because that villain Solo had simply made up the famous Jedi's involvement as a ruse. As those who have actually seen the movie know, it wasn't so.

M60MG was written before BF's peak. Putting his analysis and evaluations in print in 1969 allowed criticisms and suggested improvements to be published by other top GMs. Fischer learned what he had been doing wrong. Only after recognizing his errors and correcting them did he enter his peak "invincible" period of 1971-72. By 2007 for M61MG he had computers but apparently used them mostly for trying to evaluate positions that he had considered as unclear in M60MG.

Note: a computer will not help the supposed forger to know about why Fischer changed his opinion regarding the donkey at Sousse, or what to say in an apology to a girl friend in 1992. In my opinion the forgery theory is farfetched and unlikely.

Jun-15-09  PinnedPiece: < In my opinion the forgery theory is farfetched and unlikely.>

And who knows but in the long course of time more evidence will appear to actually support your opinion with fact. The possible permutations of Fischer's intent, stolen notes, and "helpful" friends in this story are enormous.

Bottom line: You can't steal someone's work, publish it without their consent, and then expect anyone to consider it legitimate.
