"There are two kinds of kibitzers, those that know nothing and those that don't know they know nothing."

I'm Geoff Chandler

'Sally Simpson' is the title of my favourite Who song.

The Green Pawn? It has nothing to do with chess.com I'm greenpawn over at Red Hot Pawn and when I wrote for the Hibs fanzine in the 70's i went under the name of Green Pawn.

   May-05-25 K R Charlton vs S Hawes, 1977

Sally Simpson: <areknames> I'm thinking the Wedberg idea was to prevent 5...Bc5 which Kupreichik played all the time v 5.0-0, he has no 5...h5 on here. Well remembered.

   May-05-25 Vladimir Kramnik (replies)

Sally Simpson: Has it ever been explained why Kramnik is blindfolded in this painting of pre-Carlsen World Champions. https://www.gambit.lu/wp-content/up... Capablanca: "Why in this room full of great chess players is Vladimir blindfolded?" Lasker: "Shhh. He thinks he is the only one here."

   May-05-25 Russell Almer Scott

Sally Simpson: 😊 "Many old residents of Red Deer will remember Russell Scott, a watchmaker... ...It was his first experience of playing by the clock."

   May-05-25 So vs A Liang, 2019 (replies)

Sally Simpson: <Hi offramp> You often find that here. The actual game is ignored as the pun discussion takes over. The next Stockfish upgrade will come with a pun generator. These two have played each other a few times and the other games are as yet not punned. Awonder Why? 'It's a ...

Sally Simpson: <Same with Horwitz vs Anderssen. No color alternation. > They were some odd rules knocking about who goes first back then. They could have used the time honoured system of flipping a coin to see who went first irrespective of who moved first in the previous game. In some

   May-04-25 M Bulva vs A Stolyarov, 2025

Sally Simpson: You can see what White was thinking here. [DIAGRAM] They played 16.Bc3 thinking Black cannot play 16...Qxc3 because of 17. Bf5+ and 18.Qxc3. When Black played 16...Qxc3 White resigned.

Sally Simpson: He on the the front and back cover of the May 2025 issue of chess. Full portraits, not even Carlsen has managed that. Sample pdf of May 2025 CHESS. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0...

   May-02-25 Tal vs F Olafsson, 1975 (replies)

Sally Simpson: CHESS, May 2025 (page 4) has a picture of Fridrik Olafsson's coffin with the final position from this game sculptured in marble and placed upon it. They add it was played almost 50 years to the day before Olafsson passed away.

   May-02-25 Robert James Fischer (replies)

Sally Simpson: Yes James Burke. No idea where Amos came from. A mosquito? Yet another sign of how my brain is deteriorating? It's seen Burke, turned it into Burn because it's over loaded and leaking chess stuff and added Amos.

Sally Simpson: <Stone Free> The position is after the players have agreed a draw Rubinstein vs Gruenfeld, 1926
