Jan-11-13  chesstoplay: My vote:

Most helpful: < hms123 >

Best post: < Domdaniel >

Domdaniel's award could also be a CG lifetime achievement award for endless brilliance.

Jan-11-13  parmetd: Thanks!

Annie K.: I vote for <SwitchingQuylthulg> and <Thanh Phan> for Most Helpful. I vote for <Domdaniel> and <tpstar> (Anand-Gelfand WCC) for Best Post.

I also counted 6.5 points for <parmetd>'s Avatar win, but by my count <Phony Benoni> won Best Username with a whopping 11.5 points! (I didn't insist on the word 'vote', though.) :)

Jan-11-13  benjinathan: vote hms123 most helpful
Jan-11-13  DoubleAction: My vote< Softpaw> for best post and < twinlark > for most helpful
Jan-11-13  bubuli55: I apologize to < Check It Out > for missing out nominating you on these categories. But thanks again on your wonderful accounts at London Tourney. :)

HeMateMe: i agree with <Frogbert's> above post, re: noting past winners of best avatar and best user name, to avoid repeat winners.

Also, I think it might be helpful to show the entire quotes (posts) when showing the "best posts" category. It can be tricky going back to a page to read a post, but there would be more votes cast if the full quotes were here on the voting page. A little extra scrolling will be required, not a big problem.

WannaBe: So, a player can't win FIDE/FIFA/FIBA/FINA player of the year twice? An Oscar Nominee can't win Best Actor/Director/Actress twice? B. Bond can't win MVP twice? P. Manning can't either?

HeMateMe: A little variety never hurt anything, rabbit.
Jan-11-13  Once: I guess that you can only win player of the year or an oscar nomination if you've ... well, actually done something good that year. You shouldn't win an award on the basis of something you did two or more years ago.

Otherwise, it would be pretty pointless having the Nobel prize for literature because Shakespeare would always win. The Oscar for best picture would always go to ... oh, I don't know ... Citizen Kane, the Godfather, Police Academy IV ...

The prize for the highest mountain goes to ... Mt Everest. Again.

I don't think Frogbert is saying that every award should be frozen. Only those that don't reflect any effort in the last year, like best avatar or best username.

Jan-11-13  cro777: I vote for <hms123> and <frogbert> for Most Helpful.

I vote for <domdaniel> for Best Post.

Jan-11-13  frogbert: <An Oscar Nominee can't win Best Actor/Director/Actress twice?>

not for the same movie, wannabe. :o)

Jan-11-13  frogbert: <I don't think Frogbert is saying that every award should be frozen. Only those that don't reflect any effort in the last year, like best avatar or best username.>

or best game collection, if it's <the same> game collection. but again, i didn't intend to start any debate about it here and now. so i'm out of it. :o)

Jan-11-13  Blunderdome: <the Nobel prize for literature because Shakespeare would always win.>

I think you overestimate the awards committee.

Jan-11-13  frogbert: <The prize for the highest mountain goes to ... Mt Everest. Again.>

heh. i missed that part of your post. :o)

Jan-11-13  gauer: Vote: <chessgames.com> for the best post. And <Phony Benoni> for most helpful.
Jan-11-13  Blunderdome: <The prize for the highest mountain goes to ... Mt Everest. Again.>

Another narrow win over R. Kelly.

Sneaky: I vote for <tpstar> as Best Post for his "ANAND-GELFAND BY KASPAROV / KRAMNIK / KIRSAN / TOPALOV / PARIS HILTON / et al" performance. Stuff like that is the reason why this is the best chess site on the net.

I honestly don't want to see one person run away with all the accolades, but I gotta call 'em like I see em: <Phony Benoni> as most helpful.

Jan-11-13  TheFocus: I vote for <tpstar> as Best Post for his "ANAND-GELFAND BY KASPAROV / KRAMNIK / KIRSAN / TOPALOV / PARIS HILTON / et al"

I vote for <Phony Benoni> as Most Helpful.

Ummm, I am finished voting.

Go twinlark and softpaw.

Jan-11-13  valiant: I vote for ...

jessicafischerqueen: <Sneaky> Speaking only for myself, I wouldn't find it unjust if <Phony Benoni> won all the awards.

This isn't a category but he also appears to be endlessly patient with people who make big whopping mistakes such as myself.

For example, with a single keystroke I changed all the locations for 190 games in the 1940 USSR championship to the wrong city. When <Phony Benoni> pointed this out in the Biographer Bistro he didn't even name me as the culprit, although he knew full well it was me.

<crawfb5>, another who would deserve most helpful, told me how to send in just one correction slip instead of 190.

Jan-11-13  TheFocus: If <Phony> wins a armful of trophies, I am going to help him carry them home, and celebrate with him with a bottle of his favorite beverage.

Honestly, I appreciate every time he pulls me out of the quicksand.

And, I am a big fan of <crawfb5> too.
