WannaBe: So, back in December Mr Lane "I-Love-It-Here" Kiffin said he will return to Alabama.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...

Remember, this is the guy who bolted to Tennessee, and then bolted to USC a year later, and after being fired, got a second chance at Alabama.

Jan-18-15  Jim Bartle: Way to ruin my day, <WB>!

If I remember correctly, when he arrived st Tennessee he insulted just about everybody else in the SEC.

  chancho: From Boston.com:

<Less than 24 hours after the Super Bowl XLIX matchup was set, the betting lines have moved from the Seahawks holding a slight edge over the Patriots to there being no favorite at all.

As it became clear the Pats were going to beat the Colts, Seattle opened as high as 2.5-point favorites at multiple Las Vegas sports books, but has since turned into a pick ‘em at a few different books as of 11 a.m. on Monday, including the Westgate Superbook, MGM Mirage, and Stations, while VegasInsider.com list their consensus as a pick ‘em as well.

A couple books that feature a favorite include Wynn LV and CG Technology with the Seahawks as 1-point favorites. William Hill did not have odds posted as of 11 a.m. The over/under VI consensus for total points is 49 points.

If the pick ‘em holds until game time on Feb. 1, it would mark the first time the Super Bowl has ever kicked off without a betting favorite. The Seahawks went into Super Bowl XLVIII as 2.5-point underdogs before torching the Denver Broncos, while in the Patriots last trip to the Big Game – a 21-17 loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI – they were favored between 2.5 and 3 points.>

WannaBe: <chancho> Well, let's take a look, (thanks to Wiki)... Starting at last year's match up:

2014 Denver -2, Seattle in a blow out
2013 San Francisco -4, Ravens won by 4
2012 New England -2.5, Giants won by 4
2011* Packers -3, Packers won by 6
2010 Colts -5, Saints in a blow out
2009* Steelers -7, Pittsburgh won by 4
2008 New England -12, Giants won by 3
2007* Colts -7, Colts won by 12
2006* Steelers -4, Pittsburgh won by 11
2005 New England -7, Patriots won by 3
2004 New England -7, Patriots won by 3
2003 Raiders -4, Bucs just scored again
2002 Rams -14, Patriots won by 3
2001* Ravens -3, Baltimore won by blow out

*Favored covered the spread.

As we can see, when New England Patriots were favored, their record of covering the spread were not good. But that 2002 upset of "Greatest Show on Turf" was something else.

And then them getting upset (twice) by them Giants were also something else. (Hellllllllo David Tyree!)

So, I guess if you have money burning a hole in your pocket and want to bet, take the under-dog and the points, if not, take the underdog in the money line.

But what happens when both teams are listed at -110 or -115 ??

Jan-20-15  Mating Net: <2003 Raiders -4, Bucs just scored again> Good one Bugsy, that's some real <WannaBe> wit right there.

WannaBe: <Mating Net> You have no idea how miserable that game was for me.

1. I'm Die-heart/hard Raiders fan.

2. To hedge, I place $22 on the Bucs and $22 on the over of that game. (Yeah, I'm cheap...)

3. Then we learned the starting center went AWOL.

4. Coach Chucky just took out his revenge on the Davis family and the Raiders.

Ugh!!!

Jan-21-15  Mating Net: I'm sorry to hear that Bugsy. If it's any consolation, it was all smiles for me. Warren Sapp is /was one of my all time favorite players.

WannaBe: <Mating Net> Honest to goodness, without lookin' it up. I can't even name the starting QB for the Bucs for that game...

we started some white guy that was on his last leg of NFL career. Maybe it was Joe Montana.

Jan-21-15  Mating Net: The Bucs are the last team to win a SB without a star QB. Brad Johnson for the Bucs, and Rich, pick six Gannon for da Raiders.
Jan-21-15  Mating Net: <Wannabe> Holly carrot patch, do you believe this?

WannaBe: Hip, Hip, Hooray!! I get to listen to a Kings game (I actually rather listen to sports on radio than watching on TV).

Kings are at the Sharks tonight, but unfortunately, I have to listen to San Jose announcers, instead of Fox and Miller.
