Don't look now, but the libs are titillating themselves with visions of taking away the common herd's air conditioning. That should be reserved for Our Beloved Leaders. Everybody else, break out your bikes! No air-conditioned limos for you! Admit it--you just can't wait to move into a Smart House without air conditioning, where you have to wash your clothes in the kitchen sink, the lights turn themselves off at 8 p.m., your bed folds up against the wall or else there isn't room to get dressed, you have an icebox instead of a refrigerator, and you have a Smart TV that rats you out if you eat a piece of meat. But is any price too high to pay, to Save the Planet? |

| Jul-29-15 | | playground player: <WannaBe> Help!!!!!! I hope you can help me, because no one else I've talked to today has been able to. I'm typing my manuscript, chapters in my new book. It takes several days to type up several chapters, and then I send those along to my editor. She gets the book as I write it, in sets consisting of several chapters each, in order. Today I typed up the last part of the last chapter in the set. I then tried to insert page numbers. To my horror, after the pages were numbered, I couldn't find the big fat pile of work I did today. Where was it? Finally it turned up--totally out of place. It was as if the computer had decided to shuffle my chapters just for fun, because it has a venomous soul and is trying to drive me insane. So the beginning of the final chapter in the set, the first 3 pages of that chapter, I found at the very end of the chapter set. The manuscript, for no reason I can possibly imagine, goes from the end of the next-to-last chapter to the middle of the last chapter, with the beginning of the last chapter tacked onto the very end of the whole damned set. Is there any way I can get this back in order, without having to retype the whole chapter set--a mammoth undertaking which would depress me unspeakably? What I've **got** is this:
A-end of next-to-last chapter
B-beginning of last chapter
C-middle and end of last chapter
And instead of being in ABC order, they came out ACB. I hope you can tell me how to get it into ABC order. There must be a way! (said the leaders of the Donner Party.) |

| | WannaBe: Got my Win8.1Pro upgraded to W10Pro, during the process, it told me that Symantec Endpoint Protection (virus) is not compatible and I had to uninstall it. Looks like I have to spend some time and get the corporate anti-virus version updated to be Win10 compatible (which means updating the software on our server, too). Let's see what happens now. Keep your eyes crossed. |

| | WannaBe: Well, you have to find IE via search and type in explorer and then pin it to the task bar so you don't have to repeat the search. Everything seems 'white', the address bar of the folders and IE all 'melds' together. You don't see that blue and grey bar on the top of the browser. Maybe there is a way to change that. Have to dig around. Chess Viewer Deluxe II works. (With IE, but not Spartan). |

| | WannaBe: The colour is absolutely horrible, I got IE with darker shade of blue on top and around the edges(I selected it, and like it). However, my Office Outlook does not have any colour, or borders, just blah white. While the new Edge browser (or Spartan) have this weird grey and light shade of blue around it. Why can't they all have unified colour setting that I have chosen?? If your desktop wall paper (background) is dark, forget it, you can't see any text on the task bar, only the icons. Win7 had that nice grey task bar, it's now more transparent. Haven't figured out a way to change the "Look & colour" of my task bar, but got the other stuff figured out, e.g. auto-hide, never combine, etc. |

| | WannaBe: Weird, on networkworld.com with Edge browser certain links, if you mouse wheel click, it opens the page in the same tab (suppose to open in a new tab). Right click on the link still bring up the option menu. And I've noticed the cursor will 'disappear' in the Kibitz input box, once in a while. But if you tap any arrow key it will re-appear. Haven't trace this one down yet. Pages load faster with Edge than Explorer. |

| | WannaBe: Figured out the task bar transparency 'problem', you have to pick a colour and then mark transparency to off. But none of the selectable colours are the nice gentle grey that I like. |

| | WannaBe: With multiple tabs open, and the browser minimized, the old Win7 IE would show you a list of page titles, so you can jump to it. In Win10, with IE, it will show you mini-pictures of currently opened pages so you can select one to go to. Haven't figured out how to do this with Edge.
So, if I have CG, ESPN, Yahoo, Google, NetworkWorld tabs open, and I minimize my Edge Browser, then I want to go directly to CG, but when I minimized the browser it was on ESPN, I can't jump to the page I want. |

| | WannaBe: Two more annoyances:
1. I have 2 min screen time/lock out. With Win7, I can do Ctrl + Alt + Del and start typing my password. Win10 can't do this. I have to wait until the screen wakes up then start typing my password. 2. With Edge browser minimized to the task bar, right click -> Microsoft Edge does not start a new browser. (Unlike IE) You have to manually click the '+' then drag the tab out of the browser, And you can't position it on the screen to a locale that you like. (e.g. you are running multiple monitors and you want the new browser on the second monitor) Wait for the new browser to appear and then position it. (Different behaviour than IE) |

I have 2 PCs, one is a Desktop (Win7 Pro), the other is laptop (Win8.1 Pro), both run the same Office 365 Word, Excel, etc... After upgrading both to Win10 Pro., any MS Office documents on network server can't be opened by my desktop. But anything on local drive (C:) is OK. This problem does not happen on my laptop. And if I copy the file from network drive to my local drive, I can open it. Grrrrr!!! |
