Mar-18-12  achieve: Good news!! - where previously I failed, I now succeeded!

In that I just now used the tool from the Audacity software to export aup files as wav or mp3, created a test file, and exported it successfully. :)

Perhaps CG can inform (email) me, or you, <Annie>, how they'd like the files sent to them, eg 15-sec files with two or three versions (first/surname separated) of a player name, or a larger file with a selection of names for which audio is needed... etc.

Mar-18-12  shivasuri4: <chessgames.com>, could you please reinstate GM Parimarjan Negi in the pulldown list on the home page?

Also, the 12th round of the Bundesliga 2011 is done, with the 13th round to be played today.Could you please upload the games of the league soon?

Ehsan Ghaem Maghami and Maghami Ehsan Ghaem are the same person.Kindly merge the 2 pages.

Mar-18-12  shivasuri4: Before uploading the game between Arik Braun (of SC Eppingen) and Florian Handke (of SV Wattenscheid), kindly decipher why the result is 0-1 instead of 0.5-0.5, as the the final position is equal.Perhaps Braun overstepped the time limit...

  Annie K.: <achieve> that's great news! :)

Cg want short files of just one clear pronunciation - people can replay it any number of times if they want.

Separate files for separate players, and each file named with just the player's cg ID number (you can get that from the URL of the player page) and the .mp3 extension.

Here's their post with the specifications: chessgames.com chessforum

Mar-18-12  achieve: <Annie> Thanks! - very clear, which leaves me with this question:

Is it policy to eventually have pronunciation icons with as many player pages as possible? In my case for example can I submit audio files of any Dutch player in the Dbase, or should I limit strictly to well-known strong GMs, past and present?

Is there a preference?

Understandibly the historically important players are first in line, but nevertheless this question.

Mar-18-12  twinlark: <matebay>

It's a sad and poorly reasoned post that insists on someone's god given right to be unpleasant, and no one wants a bar of it. Don't you have better things to do than post this sort of stuff?

Domdaniel: I strongly support <twinlark>'s right to say "sod off" to people in the <no common sense whatsoever department>.

And the <Dept of Redundancy Dept> too.

This page is not 'about' gods or truth or other abstractions -- it's about CG interfacing with users who have site-related problems. Not mental ones.

Mar-18-12  twinlark:

I'd better reinstate my the post to which <Domdaniel refers>:

<<voratco>: sod off.>

Mar-18-12  Once: <matebay> I'll try and say this very slowly and very clearly...

CG.com isn't a sovereign state. It isn't a religion. It's a website.

It's a website with rules. Those rules are clearly stated to the right of the little white box where you write your poisonous comments.

If you want to use the website, follow the rules.

If you don't want to follow the rules, don't use the website.

It's that simple. When you travel to a foreign country, you need to abide by the laws of that country. Not by the laws of your own country. Not by the laws that you think ought to apply by some divine right or barrack-room lawyer logic.

If you have a problem with that, then leave. Or better still, just leave anyway.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, criticise.

Heheh! :D But nah, not these two - matebay and voratco are just trolling, 100% pure and simple. For the lulz, yanno.

Regardless of diagnosis though, "sod off" is indeed the most eminently suitable response. :)

Gee, it's been too long since I last wrote a post intended to be deleted. Sorry <cg>, we'll buy you a brand new delete key for your next birthday, k? ;)

I've just been sending them whatever I made, but that is a good question. For my YouTube channel it's "the more the merrier", but cg has to host these files on their own server... so, over to you, <cg>! :)

I'll throw some in the hat for that!

Mar-18-12  cro777: <chessgames.com: It also brought to our attention how Tatiana Kosintseva is another player in dire need of a more recent photograph.>

<Annie K.: And Wesley So, preferably one of his own choice.>

This is the most recent photograph of Wesley So.

Domdaniel: <delete keys> Me, I can't hardly wait for proper Trek-style 'puters. You just glance vaguely at the ceiling (or not, if engaged in, for example, phaser-fighting) and say "Computer, delete this person".

And it does.

Mar-18-12  benjinathan: <matebay> There is no freedom of speech here. There are rules and you insist on breaking them over and over again. There is freedom of speech all over the web. You seem unhappy here in this site where there is no freedom of speech. Why don't you leave?

al wazir: It's been more than a year since the last Chessgames Challenge. What's wrong, are GMs all afraid of us, or is <chessgames.com> not offering enough money?
Mar-19-12  brankat: An idea: instead of having a game against a GM (we have taken care of a few already), why not against a LM :-)

jessicafischerqueen: <branko> I know you think you are "just telling a joke" but you are not helping matters.

<AJ's> behavior since his suspension has been exemplary in every sense.

<Nemesistic> was right- you egged on the Anti-AJ flamers, and you have never stopped doing this, despite all that has happened. You even kept egging them on during the big "suspension week" despite the administrators EXPLICIT WARNING not to continue such "operations."

And in addition to the totally irresponsible "joke" you just posted in here- and it most certainly doesn't belong here- you just finished cracking another "joke" at AJ's expense over at <Col Mortimer's> house.

There is an overwhelming majority of us here at CG who are overjoyed that the <AJ v the world> flame war is over.

Given how hard it was for us- and it was many, many of us working in concert- to get the administrators to FINALLY do something to stop this egregious, idiotic, and unnecessary flame war- your attitude here is indefensible, selfish, and, I might add, childish.

Idiotic in fact. You are not funny. Own up and take responsibility for your attitude and the potential damage your incorrigibility may cause in the future.

Our games pages and the GMs who do come here are precious- you lost precious chess magazines and books, so I know you understand about this.

Do you not think this website is as precious as what you- sadly- lost? You don't see the connection?

So cut it out.

Now.

Mar-19-12  AgentRgent: Chessgames.com:

Would it be possible to have tournament results be sortable? For large tournaments (e.g. Reykjavik Open (2012)) I'd like to be able to sort by Opening (although sorting by result or even # of moves could also be useful).

Thanks

Mar-19-12  hms123: <AgentRgent>

I agree that it would be very convenient to sort as you suggest. As a premium member you can download the games from a particular tournament and then use various chess programs (many free) to filter the games as you like.

The <PGN DOWNLOAD> button is at the bottom of the list of games for the tournament.
