| Mar-19-12 | | hms123: <Switch> How did you do that? |
| Mar-19-12 | | AgentRgent: <hms123>: Yes thanks, but I also like being able to see any kibitzing while going over the games so this isn't as good an option. <SwitchingQuylthulg>: Thanks, but I'd like to be able to sort the tournament games into ECO codes, not search for each and every ECO code + the tournament. Some openings have a several ECO codes, which would make it time consuming to cover them all. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <AgentRgent> I see - yes, that would be a neat ability, though openings with several ECO codes aren't a problem even with my way... Reykjavik Open (2012) ;-) |
| Mar-19-12 | | AgentRgent: <SwitchingQuylthulg> But they're still not sorted by ECO.. ;-) |
| Mar-19-12 | | hms123: <Switch> I get that I can copy and paste (and edit) your string, but can you get to it from the Advanced search page by filling in boxes? |
Mar-19-12
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <AgentRgent> Yes, that's somewhat weird actually, given that if you search for ECO code and nothing else the results will be sorted by ECO... it would be good to have that happen even with other criteria specified. <hms123> Not to my knowledge... unless you're an admin: chessgames.com chessforum |

| Mar-19-12 | | hms123: <Switch>
2008? It doesn't seem that hard to add a box for <tournament id>. A pull-down list for current tournaments might also be a good start. The admins could let the list build itself over time and in the meantime one could go to the tournament page and find the id for older tournaments and enter it. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <hms123> The admins once said they want to work on a historical tournaments feature first, but I agree that it would be good to have searching by tournament available even if it's in a limited version :) <jfq> <brankat> Play nice or you'll both get a lump of coal this year :) Lately we've had way too much snapping at people and not enough smiling and laughter. |
| Mar-19-12 | | crawfb5: <Switch> A major problem with searching by tournament for historical tournaments is the event field is inconsistent for many of these games. Unless that is fixed, we'd probably be restricted to searching by modern tournaments. |
Mar-19-12
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <crawfb5> That's exactly what I meant with "limited" :) |
| Mar-19-12 | | crawfb5: Ok, making explicit the implied. That's why I'm here... :-) |

 | | tpstar: <AJ's behavior since his suspension has been exemplary in every sense.> This is mostly correct but a tad generous, given his taco-winning comments from the start plus suggesting that another kibitzer should have been disciplined and later accusing the site of a double standard. <There is an overwhelming majority of us here at CG who are overjoyed that the AJ v the world flame war is over.> Except it was over before too.
<brankat>'s comments were playful and not meant to be instigatory. =) |

| Mar-19-12 | | LIFE Master AJ: Actually 1.a3 is not that bad, I have even used it a few times over the years, mostly against opponents who had good results against my "normal" openings. (Back when I only played the G.P.) If you know a lot about openings, it can be fun to play as a transpositional opening. Just one example? 1.a3, e5; 2.c4, Nf6; 3.d3, d5; 4.cxd5, NxP/d5; 5.Nf3, Nc6. Compared to a coventional Najdorf, White has an extra move here. Or. 1.a3, e5; 2.e4, Nf6; 3.Nc3, and now a reversed Ruy Lopez is impossible. (3...Bb4??; 4.a3xb4) There are also many lines in the King's Indian, Benoni, and other Q-side openings where a2-a3 comes in handy. One time, in Orlando, in a G/15 tournament, a 1970 let me play a reversed Benko Gambit. He got killed, and after the game, he wasn't even aware of what happened, referring to my opening as a joke and a piece of garbage. |
| Mar-19-12 | | LIFE Master AJ: Are you going to post any more of my games? I submitted my game against Frye two months ago ... if you are not, I won't bother wasting the energy. |
| Mar-19-12 | | Robed.Bishop: Uh-oh, the heavy hitters are out again. Time to dust off the guillotine... |
| Mar-19-12 | | LIFE Master AJ: I have one more request for you.
One user <Nemesistic> has now taken to stalking and harassing my friend. <Morfishine> (See Morf's forum.) While he may never complain about it, I think there comes a time when decency and common sense demands action. |
| Mar-19-12 | | LIFE Master AJ: Another suggestion: An unlimited ignore list. (For everyone.) If you really want to keep the peace - as you claim - than the best way to deal with persons making hateful/spiteful comments is to place them on ignore and move on. However, currently, that is not possible, as my ignore list is full, and there are many people who have already requested/demanded another slot. |

yes. |

| Mar-19-12 | | voratco: Domdaniel and twinlark, you both are allowed to say sod off to me so I am inclined to believe I also have the right to tell you <screw you both at both end>. How is that, you righteous tweet? |
| Mar-19-12 | | voratco: LMAJ, stop crying, please, it's annoying. Morshifine, I suppose is a man of his own. Let him handle his own problems and you do yours, you have so many. |

 | | Fusilli: <tpstar> and <quantum.conscious>: I have no doubt that <brankat>'s intention was playful... but there is a risk in being playful by encouraging collective bonding against <AJ>. Since <brankat> is already part of the collective that profoundly dislikes <AJ>, and that collective is what he had in mind when he posted his joke, it is clear that from his point of view (and other members of the collective) he was just being funny. Granted, <JFQ> could have been gentler, but what she was trying to say is that she is afraid that the troop is slowly assembling again. That is what collective bonding does (plenty of examples in history). Since she fought hard to stop the war, she feels strongly about this. Peace, everybody. |
| Mar-19-12 | | twinlark: <voratco> Welcome to my Iggy bin. Bye. |
| Mar-19-12 | | quantum.conscious: <Fusilli:Granted, <JFQ> could have been gentler> yes, she herself is saying so (and more) in brankat forum. <Fusilli:Peace, everybody.

Amen to that! |

| Mar-19-12 | | voratco: roggee, uh oh, are you now changing your mind?
If I remember correctly, you said <matebay> was the most articulate poster deserving award. Why the sudden change of wind? Also, careful, careful, the sub-concious is trying to enlist matebay to his side, I can not say if it is a bad or good omen against the frog and the <Carlsen Cult>. I have no doubt, matebay will not be drugged into joining forces with ehemmmm..... Just kidding. |
| Mar-19-12 | | voratco: <twinlark: <voratco> Welcome to my Iggy bin. Bye.> Thank you for admitting you were guilty. You are truly a man. Try to persuade domdaniel to do the same, I do hope he is not in-between. |
