| Oct-24-13 | | gauer: With an Olympiad that has a qualifier and a final cross-table (7 (prelim) + 13 (final), as in 1966), when updating the round and date information on those games, should a round (x) of a final group be labelled as (x) or as (x+7)? In those older ones, it seems that in some cases a reserve could also play a top board player (Ecuador - Ireland of that year), and so the x.y system won't always indicate the seating to a team table pairing (and we've been generally leaving it blank). The event/site tags in those aren't always trustworthy, since there's quite a variety of them. But it's more of a question for later when tid pages are created to generate 1 or 2 cross-tables for the prelim and final groups (both linked to one bigger tid congress page) or to just 1 tid page. One could also link several sections of a sectional using separate tid numbers in such a way - by mentioning one link in the biography section of the other. |

 | | Domdaniel: <gauer> As far as I can see, following the results from Olimpbase, there is nothing unusual about the Ecuador-Ireland match from the 1966 Olympiad.
Perhaps some confusion arises from the fact that Ecuador had 3 players named Yepez and Ireland had 2 players named Cassidy. R. Cassidy 1/2 O.Yepez
E. Keogh 1-0 A. Cevallos
B. Reilly 1-0 T. Yepez
B. Kerr 1/2 Os. Yepez
(Ireland 3, Ecuador 1)
Ireland players: 2, 3, 4, 5/1 res
Ecuador players: 1, 2, 3, 5/1 res
In general, I see no problem with following the results given by Olimpbase. |

 | | Domdaniel: <gauer> As I understand it, the Board-4 game in the Ireland-Ecuador match was between B.Kerr and Os. Yepez, both 1st Reserve (or board 5) for their teams. *Another* O. Yepez was 1st board for Ecuador, which may be a source of confusion. |

 | | Domdaniel: <gauer> Incidentally, one member of the Ireland team in 1966, Eamon Keogh, is still active -- I played him a couple of years ago. He may be able to confirm exactly what happened. |
|
| Oct-24-13 | | gauer: Aha - thanks (and incidentally, a different correction slip was just added to those Yepez guys). But let's leave up the other query about whether final and prelims need to have a separate set of round numbering up to an admin decision. |
|
Oct-24-13
 | | Domdaniel: <gauer> Agreed -- the final/prelims question is a different problem, and I don't have a solution... |

 | | WannaBe: Have you tried to change the % of your view? Like go from 100 to 130? It's usually under view-> size. Or with IE, hold down Ctrl and use your mouse wheel. What browser are you using? |
|

 | | Annie K.: Every browser has a zoom in/out function, you could try that. :) |
|
| Oct-24-13 | | Thanh Phan: Are you using an ipad or other mobil device? Add which pgn viewer have you chosen? It's possible that might help others find a more accurate way to help as a desktop based system has some different viewing options then a small mobil device |
|
| Oct-24-13 | | davide2013: I'm using a notebook (17" screen). I didn't think of using the percentage (silly me) because when I see the games in chessgames.com they are on a different board which is already bigger, while the one in guess the move is smaller. I'm using Mozilla Firefox if that helps. Thanks for trying to help me. |

| Oct-24-13 | | TheFocus: I used View: Zoom In and it worked just fine. |

| Oct-24-13 | | davide2013: Thank you TheFocus, that definitely worked, now I can rest my eyes, and see the chessboard better. |

| Oct-24-13 | | Thanh Phan: <davide2013> I might not be able to help provide you with an answer but I can help with showing you how to provide others with enough information to provide a possible solution |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <TD> hahaa
I actually know the "Reading Glass Scale" and I don't think light can penetrate +200 lenses. Maybe a laser could. Last time I got reading glasses, I was feeling cranky and I kept telling the guy "More! More!" and ended up going home with a pair of +3 lenses. They work fine, but only if you hold the book two inches from your face. |
