Uncovering the Truth About M61MG

Aug-07-09  SugarDom: OK, you answered my question well about gothic chess.

What about my other question? Is M61MG Wrestler, Jessicafischerqueen?

Aug-07-09  MageOfMaple: I love how everything pertaining to Ed Trice is to be ignored, while at the same time, *WE* are accused of being an army of sockpuppets. Riiiight...

I don't think Mr. Day's failings are of the intellectual or of the emotional variety. It is my opinion that they are of the moral variety. It is my personal conclusion that he is willing participating in a fraud.

Aug-07-09  SugarDom: If M61MG are genuine, why weren't they published by Fischer before he died?

What was the explanation?...

Sorry, i'm too lazy to go back pages and read...

Aug-07-09  MrMelad: <LDay: The question of the authorship of the original manuscript is not related to Ed Trice> Yes it does.

<If Ed Trice had tried using a computer to disguise himself as Bobby Fischer then the trick would be easy to spot for any master reading it> Is it required to learn how to spot an Ed Trice writing in order to become a master? I always thought you have to beat some high rated opponents and get norms, silly me. Besides didn't a certain GM Yasser concluded the exact opposite from you? This is very weak, IM Day, you think your opinion suppose to weigh more because you are a master and bigger masters than yourself (not to speak of the general consensus) disagree with you.

< he describes private conversations, e.g. with Dimitrije Bjelica> Maybe this will convince you. from http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/...

"... The book oozes contempt for its buyers and is an insult to Fischer, who broke off all connections with Bjelica in 1971 after he had been cheated by this 'friend'"

<The forgery theory necessitates that the forger was hopelessly incompetent, easily giving himself away.> Not so easily, it takes a lot of work. This post, for instance took me time. I've already invested enough time that if I had the book I could finish scan it completely. Others here also gave much time, so did the fellows in wiki, and Ed Lebate had devoted his life to it since encountering Trice, do you think it was easy for him??? but hey, don't let the facts get in your way.

<Obviously Ed is a shameless self-promoter, so how could he resist putting his name in somewhere?> Because a con artist knows how to con people, DUH!

<why would he forgo proof-reading and rush to the ebay auction before Bobby Fischer's demise? How did he know that Fischer himself would not publicly state that the book was a forgery? > Fischer didn't make public statements anymore besides Jew rants and etc. He also didn't meet entrepreneurs.

Aug-07-09  MrMelad: After the fiasco with the Batsford edition of the original M60MG, many people who's reputation was greatly diminished was angry. It is possible they are involved in the new fraud book, since they didn't publicly denounce the new book and they are connected to Ed Trice via Ray Keene. Trice could be the scapegoat of a high reputation chess mafia. I call for those who were involved in the Batsford edition to get involved in this discussion, it is possible some members of this old group were interested to make a profit. If L. Day can prove there is information in the book which wasn't available to Trice (he didn't so far IMO), it could imply their involvement.

Theory 1 : Trice is the only con man.

Theory 2 : Trice had associates not connected to the chess world.

Theory 3 : Trice had associates with reputation in the chess world.

Theory 4 : Trice is the scapegoat of his associates and is being pressured to continue this scam while they are supporting his legitimacy by publicly conversing with him.

Aug-07-09  Colonel Mortimer: <<IMlday> is a regular kibitzer. He has views just like all the members of this site. I'm sure he is more than capable of defending his views and rolling with the punches.
Aug-07-09  Riverbeast: <I'm sure he is more than capable of defending his views and rolling with the punches>

Especially since he is either an interested party in the book, or hopelessly delusional....It's far easier to argue a point when you don't let annoying little distractions like facts (or logic) cloud the issue

Aug-07-09  Jim Bartle: The book's foreword is a real curiosity. Basically, "Fischer" says he wrote it because he needed money.

chancho: Fischer was not the type of person who would be hiding to his friends or anyone that he was writing a chess book. And please, let's not use the he had a child, and he did not let us know argument... two very different things. And as to why did someone brought the book to the public's attention while Bobby was still alive? Well, didn't Batsford come out with a copy back in 1995 with changed analysis that was terrible, and all this without consulting Fischer even once? So basically other morons tried to be slick, and openly came out with their own version of the book... where's the mystery? And even though mention of the book first came to our notice back in 2007, and at the Ebay auction, no book was ever <physically seen> back then by anyone, just a photo of the front cover. That book was most likely not yet printed in 2007. It was only around Dec 2008 when <hackmate> and <Joshka> said they had a copy, and then IMDay received his, that it was confirmed that someone had copies of this miserable hoax of a book.
Aug-07-09  Jim Bartle: I see Mr. Day's role as similar to that of a defense lawyer, with Trice as his client. A defense lawyer presents his case in the manner most positive to his client, and is not considered an objective observer.

Joshka: Also, Fischer credits a few lines in which he worked with GM Torre. Why would a forger take the chance to make this up when Torre could be easily asked for verification? The book went on sale over a month before Fischer died. Was the forger prepared to do battle with Bobby had Bobby lived?
Aug-07-09  whiteshark: <PinnedPiece: <Ed Trice> chessforum = closed Payment = lapsed ?> Let me guess: The cheque is in the post!
Aug-07-09  JustToClarify: Joshka:

Are we going to have to set up a FAQ?

As I already posted:

Trice probably found it in a book or newspaper article.

Now, for an argument which has a reasonable chance to be connected with reality: Is Joshka really Trice in disguise?

Hmmm...Trice deleting his forum here. You know, this is classic Trice: Deleting a forum where he tries to defend one of the lies he said.

For example, Trice tried multiple times on the Wikipedia to delete discussion about the expiration of his Gothic Chess patent after having his temper-tantrum where he lied through his teeth and claimed the patent did not expire.

chancho: Found this quote of Fischer's:

<I don't keep any close friends. I don't keep any secrets. I don't need friends. I just tell everybody everything, that's all.>

Does that sound like someone whose hiding that he's witting a chess book?

And there's an answer for the Eugenio Torre analysis. Just a matter of finding it...

Aug-07-09  Jim Bartle: By now the patent has to be no more than a point of pride. Trice can still do what he wants with the game, and I don't see anybody knocking on the door to compete with him.
Aug-07-09  JustToClarify: Oh, and for the record: I apologize for invoking Me. Day's family in my post criticizing his reasoning process above.

I do have friends who believe conspiracy nonsense, such as one who believes 9/11 was staged by the Bush Administration (ugh), another who is a Global Warming denier, etc.

I do respect Mr. Day as a person, but his reasoning process sometimes leaves something to be desired.

No, Fischer did not secretly make a book which he successfully kept hidden from his closest friends. No, really, Fischer did not keep a manuscript like this secret from the people he knew while giving it to a stranger. If you believe this, well, please take your medication.

Jim: Gothic Chess is dead. It has been dead ever since Trice's behavior got him kicked off of brainking.com.

Aug-07-09  Jim Bartle: Exactly. So why does the patent matter in the slightest?
Aug-07-09  MageOfMaple: Only because the wikipedia patent denial incident was a good example of Trice denying a proveable truth and then threatening legal action against those who would dare disagree with him. That's the only reason.
Aug-07-09  JustToClarify: The reason why Trice cared enough about the patent to post this on the Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

Is because having the patent expire be made public went against his desire to have the world think he's a big short. Sorry, Trice, we know the truth: You're a pathetic nobody whose only claim to fame is always lying and pissing off everyone anywhere you go.

Aug-07-09  capatal: (Aug-01-09 Prediction):
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight... Ed's headed for greener pastures-nearer a septic tank... alright!
Aug-07-09  JustToClarify: Trice tried multiple times to remove record of the Wikipedia patent denial indident:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...

etc.

Unfortunately, as hard as Trice tried to erase this incident from everyone's memory, he wasn't able to. Indeed, one way to make Trice go away is to bring up this incident. As well as the time Labate sued him. Not to mention the time Harac Consulting sued him. Or how people still remember and despise him on BrainKing:

http://brainking.info/archives/563-...

Sorry, Trice, we won't forget. I suggest, Mr. Trice, that you stay off of the internet. Every time you get online, you make more enemies and more people hate you.

Joshka: Amazing deep detective work, Uncovering the Truth??....when asked how the editors knew about lines in which Fischer and Torre were working on, your answer is <Trice probably found it in a book or newspaper article> what book??....what article???.....and if 'probably' doesn't apply, how else Sherlock???LOL........oh wanna take a stab at my last question you neglected to answer?...also explain why the books were available from Justine's (Jinky's mother) good friend??
Aug-07-09  MrMelad: <what book??....what article???.> What lines??? Scan the book or don't refer to it. Evidence which is not publicly available is useless. You people never stop to amaze me. You quote from a book you have an exclusive access to! I can't read the lines you mention, I don't even know what you are talking about <!!!>
Aug-07-09  MrMelad: <Joshka> Fischer Torre gives 548000 results, you go over it.
