| Apr-10-20 | | NakoSonorense: I'm mostly retired now, but I log in every now and then to see what's up. I still play on freechess.org, if you're ever there. Whatcha gonna get with your $1,200? Some new kicks? A new mouse? |
|
| Apr-10-20 | | technical draw: <Nako> I have a hunch, I'm betting my $1,200 on 811 on the pick 3 of May 1st. I would win $600,000. Go big or go home. |

 | | WannaBe: Because of social distancing, does anyone (besides me) see a return of drive-in theatre? Because a lot of church services this Easter weekend was done via 'drive-in' method. Just curious. Stay safe out there. |
|
| Apr-15-20 | | NakoSonorense: <WannaBe> I've never been to one of those. Are they fun? Although I like the idea of watching a movie from the car, I'm not sure the viewing experience is all that great (esp. if you have dirty windshield!) Have you ever heard of those movies they show at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery? |
|
Apr-15-20
 | | WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> No, But I remember there was one on Bellflower Blvd and Willow in Long Beach right next to the 405. Los Altos Drive-in. Now it's part of a Ford Dealership.
Drive-ins were very popular at one time, you can lie tilted on top of the hood with your back on the glass (once the engine cools off...) Or you can be with your special other in the back seat doing stuff. So I heard. Now a days with spacious SUVs, I can guess what you can do in the back seat with tinted windows. |

|
| Apr-20-20 | | NakoSonorense: Over the last few years, I have completely stopped paying attention to the world of chess. What is happening? Is Carlsen still the best?
Is Nakamura still playing? Is he still the best US player? Or is it that Caruana guy? Are the Polgar sisters still playing? Who's the strongest female player? Who is the world champion?
Who has the highest rating?
Whatever happened to Topalov, Kramnik, and Anand? Where is Aronian?
Is Peter Leko's playing style as exciting as ever? |

 | | WannaBe: <Nako> Yes, still have my Sally... She's going on 14 years of age. Soon my car will be old enough to get its own drivers lic, and don't need me anymore. |

| Apr-20-20 | | technical draw: <WannaBe> I will introduce you to that nice Brazilian pianist if you can tell me how I can move the cursor without using a mouse. I have a mac. (and I'm not going back,) |

 | | WannaBe: <chancho> On the task bar, far right, is a square box, looks like a comic dialog balloon, click on that. Select Gear looking "All Settings", if you don't see it, find and click on "Expand" Then Select "Update and Security", on left hand side find and click "Trouble shoot" Scroll down and find "Windows Update Resolve Problems...." Run the trouble shooter. If this doesn't work, let me know. There is an alternative method. |
|
Apr-21-20
 | | chancho: I tried it.
I got: Windows could not identify the problem. |

 | | WannaBe: Double click on your computer icon, open up C: then open up Windows folder. Find "SoftwareDistribution" folder, right click, "Rename", add ".old" (Now the folder should show SoftwareDistribution.old" If successful, run Windows Update. If not follow instructions below: Windows button (task bar, very left. Or click the Windows key on keyboard) Type in "Service", run the app.
Find Background Intelligent Transfer, if it is running, right click, select Stop Find Windows Update, if it is running, right click, select Stop Go back and rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder. Reboot. Try Windows Update. |
|
Apr-21-20
 | | chancho: I'm feeling the urge to drop kick this Dell laptop into oblivion... I right clicked rename and nothing happens.
So I cannot add the old to the folder.
And then, there is this:
Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712) @#$%!!!! |
