The organizers of the 21st World Seniors Championship (2011) tournament inquired whether some Canadian players wished to qualify for their event, and so this was one of many opportunities that were organized as a possible requirement for being seeded in to the next stage. IO Hal Bond was the chief arbiter/organizer for this qualifier event.

Game Collection: 2010 Canadian Seniors' Championship was the previous tournament in the series.

Although some players qualified (for instance, William G Doubleday etc) for the 21st World Seniors Championship (2011) at Rijeka, Croatia, the Canadian tournament next year allowed invitees of Canadians Leon Piasetski , Bill Doubleday, Andre Zybura and Pierre Maheux to the 2012 World Seniors' championship (although not all Canadians qualified through this tournament process, since the other relaxed criteria were also honoured to accept participants). Istvan Kiss , Brian McClaren, Leon Piasetski, Zybura and Doubleday competed at 2013 World Seniors' championship as well.
