In 2007, William Doubleday achieved a Canadian National Master certification. He won the 2011 Canadian Senior Championship (tied with Ralph Deline). He and Andre Zybura scored 5½/11 (tied for share of 43rd-63rd) for Canada at the 2012 World Senior Championship. In 2013, Bill, Ralph and Istvan Kiss tied for share of 1st-3rd in the Canadian Senior Championship with 5/7, but he placed 2nd on the head-to-head tiebreaks. He won the 2014 Canadian Senior Championship in Kitchener with 5½/7. He scored 5/11 at the World Senior Championship in both 2013 and 2016(4).
