US Open - Help!
Compiled by Phony Benoni
--*--

This project is a big job, and any help is appreciated. Please leave a note at my forum, User: Phony Benoni. To see a collection for a particular year, go to the index at Game Collection: US Open Tournament Index.

Crosstables

In particular, I will need some help with 1964 and 1973-1991. Other years are readily available, though specific missing information will be noted below. Boston, 1964 is the Holy Grail in this category.

Games.

Any game will be accepted. Those from the pre-Swiss (1900-1945) definitely will be submitted to this database. Afterward, there will be many games that do not meet one of <chessgames.com>'s basic criteria for inclusion, that at least one of the players be rated over 2200. For example, I have over 2500 games from Dearborn 1992, but only a few hundreds from the bulletins will be on this database. However, I would still like to have any and all games, on the chance that someday I may have my own little sandbox where they can be displayed.

I am interested only in the US Open itself, not any of the events held in association with it such as the Denker or Polgar tournaments. Every game will be checked to ensure is is actually from the Open.

Player names

I am compiling a list of players, currently complete through 1967: see Game Collection: US Open Player List, 1900-1969 (A-E), Game Collection: US Open Player List, 1900-1969 (F-K), Game Collection: US Open Player List, 1900-1969 (L-R), and Game Collection: US Open Player List, 1900-1969 (S-Z). I would be interested in any corrections or fuller forms of name, particularly for those players with games in the database. Here is a partial list of some that could use some work.

Anderson, K A (NE) 1949
Bruns, H (MO) 1902 (possibly Burns

Cohen, S S (NY) 1936, 1937 -- is this the same as Sam Cohen (IL) 1953 1963

Individual tournaments

Again, for all tournaments, missing games are gratefully accepted. Please leave a note at my forum, http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches...
