HeMateMe: for some context, I think that when the Rolling Stones made their triumphal return to the stage, the free concert in Hyde Park, 1969, they had hired England's branch of the Hell's Angels to provide security, and everything came off well, no violence. That was the show where the Stones had been off stage for almost two years because of a myriad of criminal legal problems. The show also introduced new lead guitarist Mick Taylor, who replaced the late Brian Jones.

From a cultural point of view I think the USA was just a more violent place than England in 1969. Mick Jagger probably couldn't have understood that USA 1969 was just a bonfire waiting to erupt. It was not similar to England, didn't matter who the Hells Angels were.

I suppose too, that after facing jail time for smoking pot the Rolling Stones weren't exactly real eager to hire the London Metropolitan Police to provide security.

I see your favourite lyric as meaning it’s hard to be a capitalist, but it’s also hard to be a worker.

Susan Freeman: <HMM> Hyde park. Now there’s a memory.
Apr-27-22  Luke Warm: The United States held a weekend of peace, love and music that summer in upstate NY.
Apr-27-22  Luke Warm: One can add that France in May 1968 marked a period of civil unrest—hard to claim Europe or N.America as more prone to violence—‘culturally’, in HMM’s words.
Apr-27-22  Luke Warm: Baader Meinhof Group in Germany...
Apr-27-22  Keyser Soze: Barger, of course blame Stones for the most of the riot. First, they made the public wait for hours and hours for the reason safunna explained.

After hours of frustration and probably fueled by drugs , booze, some people started to push , kick some of Hell's motorcycle parked near the stage . Then the fight(s) started. Richards threated to stop playing if the violence keeps going and said that to Sonny directly, which he replied something like "if you stop playing we will kill you" (looking back , if they did stop permanently , could happen a massacre)

So they finish the set quickly went to their helicopters and left.

Kinda sissy attitude.

Apr-27-22  Luke Warm: Stones tunes were messianic and a trifle too satanic at the time.
Apr-27-22  Luke Warm: <I read a Sonny Barger bio>

Hard-up for something to read?

Apr-27-22  Luke Warm: Anyone following the Johnny Depp defamation trial? Or what I call the ‘Say it ain’t so, Johnny’ trial. That our hero wouldn’t hit a woman under any circumstances.
Apr-27-22  Petrosianic: Hero? Depp appeared in what amounts to blackface as recently as 2013. That makes him a very big villain. That doesn't prove he was abusive too, of course.
Apr-27-22  diceman: <Petrosianic: Hero? Depp appeared in what amounts to blackface as recently as 2013.>

That won't bother Luke, he has a blackface PM.

Hopefully, Rona <HeMateMe> Barrett will keep us informed of all the dirt, and all the juicy bits!

MissScarlett: <The popular website Chess.com has been blocked in Russia after publishing two critical articles on the situation in Ukraine branded "false information" by the authorities.

The site, which boasts 50 million members worldwide, is now on a list of blocked sources drawn up by Russia's telecom watchdog Roskomnadzor.

The general prosecutor's office requested that access to just two pages of the Chess.com critical of Russia's "special operation" in Ukraine be restricted, domestic agencies and media reported.

But because Chess.com uses the HTTPS protocol, the whole site has become unavailable, the media said.>

I trust <cg.com> is coming through loud and clear, or unclear, as the case may be.
