tpstar: 9 ... Kxd7 10. Qf5+ & 11. Qxc5 leaves White a clear Pawn up; Black was aiming for counterplay based on the open center and misplaced White Queen. Now for you: why didn't Black play 14 ... Nxg2 the first time?
Aug-02-04  InspiredByMorphy: Good question tpstar. I cant find any reason why black didnt play 14. ... Nxg2 instead of having to reorganize the knight to accomplish the same goal 11 moves later.
Aug-02-04  SEVEN: After 14... Nxg2 I guess white would play 15.Bh6
Aug-02-04  InspiredByMorphy: <tpstar> 9. ... Kxd7 10.Qf5+ and black has the ugly ... Kc6 then 11.Qxc5+ Qxc5 12.dxc5 Kxc5 keeps the pawn.

  tpstar: <IBM> Sorry, yes, I "saw" that later. Perhaps 9 ... Kxd7 10. Qf5+ Kc6!? 11. Qf3+ Kd7 12. dxc5 Qxc5 13. Qxf7+ snags a Pawn plus the Black King is stuck in the center.

<SEVEN> Thank you, 15. Bh6 is very strong, and after 15 ... Qd4 16. Ne2 Qf6 17. Bg5 White has the f4 & h4 escape squares covered, so the Ng2 might get eaten with 18. f3 & 19. Kxg2.

Aug-03-04  InspiredByMorphy: Thanks tpstar.
