Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-03-03  Spitecheck: Fairly simple chess from Karpov, too simple! Bb5+, exchange of light squared bishops, than he proceeds to conduct central operations on the white squares. Not the best finish to a game, seemed rather coy.

Jan-16-04  Dick Brain: If anyone is impressed by the system of play used by Spassky ;), you can get some info on the opening system at www.beginnersgame.com
Aug-02-04  maoam: <Dick Brain>

ROFL! How did you find that site?

Aug-03-04  Dick Brain: I'm part of a cult that knows these things ;)
Aug-08-04  azaris: The book should carry a disclaimer:

"Warning! Do not attempt play described in this book against Anatoly Karpov."

Dec-15-05  MorphyMatt: what's with 17... Kf7?
Jul-15-08  Woody Wood Pusher: I just read about the modern opening and had a gut feeling it would be a bad move against Karpov....not even Spassky could pull it off!

Maybe you can get away with ceding the center sometimes, but no against Karpov!

Jul-15-08  euripides: <woody> you might be right. There are masterpieces against Korchnoi (1978) and Timman (1979) in the Pirc as well.
Nov-02-20  amadeus: Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kz...
Nov-02-20  Granny O Doul: 13...Bc6 rather than, say, ...c6, looks most unhippopotamusian. I'd never have guessed it came out of someone who played it successfully in a world championship match.
Sep-29-24  ColdSong: Nice era for the Hippopotamus players, since stockfish can definitely show them how that thing can be played correctly.
