Sep-04-06  Runemaster: Looking at the position after 25 moves, I love how Korchnoi fashions a win out of this triple minor piece ending.

At first, he doen't seem to have much to work with. I think a key moment was 33.Ne5. If 33...Nxe5 34.dxe5, White is threatening 35.f3 Ng5 36.Bd2 and if 36...Nb1 37.Bxa5 Nxa3 38.Bb4+.

plang: This was game 5 of their candidates match. It was the first deceisive game and gave Korchnoi the lead which he never relinquished.
Mar-16-14  Conrad93: This is very similar to what Fischer played against Mecking four years before, except this time black went for a pin on g4, instead of playing Nc6-Bd7.

Chessical: <Runemaster> Perhaps <33...Nxe5> is okay for Black? For example,

<33... Bxe5> 34. dxe5 Nc5 35. Bf1 Nb3 36. Bb2 Na4; and Black seems to be holding on.

Aug-28-14  RookFile: If you had given me the choice after 26. Bc1 I would have preferred Black. 30....Nxd2 probably would have lead to a draw. I think Mecking tried too hard.
