Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-28-16  Turtle3: The end position though...
Dec-18-17  Howard: Inside Chess stated back at the time that after Kudrin sprang a novelty early in the game, but after ten moves he already had a lost position. But, despite a serious material deficit later in the game, he managed to draw it out to the 88th move before resigning.

But, doesn't it seem premature to say that Kudrin was already lost that early in the game?

Retireborn: The "novelty" 8...Nc6 does seem to be a losing move, actually. After 9.cxd5 Nb4 (knight retreats leave Black with nothing after 10.a3) 10.a3 Na2 (10...Na6 11.b4 and the Ne4 will fall) 11.b4 Qxa3 12.Nxa2 Qxa2 13.f3 White is a solid pawn up with a nice space advantage.

Black should play 8...Nxc3 as here:-

  FSR: Cool game.
Jul-07-24  whiteshark: Notable game played 2 years before: Karpov vs Kasparov, 1986 with some good kibitzing.
