Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-31-08  PugnaciousPawn: What a great battle!!
Feb-17-09  ungeneral: Wait, isnt this a draw? for instance, 76 g7 Bd4+ 77 Kf7 Bxg7 78. Kxg7 c2 79. h6 c1=Q 80. h7 and white should be able to draw
Feb-17-09  swarmoflocusts: <ungeneral>

After black queens he gets mated.

Feb-17-12  ventricule: <ungeneral> No, though queen vs pawn endgames with the pawn on the seventh rank of the rook file, are generally drawn, they are not if the attacking king is close enough to join the attack, in which case the defending king gets mated after queening.

See the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_... for a good example of how to do it

Feb-17-12  number 23 NBer: <ungeneral> At the end of your line, 80...♔e6 81 h8=♕ ♕g5+ and either 82 ♔f8 ♕e7+ 83 ♔g8 ♕f7# or 82 ♔h7 ♔f7 with mate to follow.
Feb-17-12  waustad: I guess Kengis Can. I made the same mistake as <ungeneral> looking at it for the first time.

Penguincw: I just learned that Larsen also made a variation out of the Alekhine's (assuming it's Bent Larsen).
