Eggman: This penultimate-round win from the 1985 Biel interzonal didn't help Poluaevsky (he had no chances to qualify), but it certainly hurt Ljubojevic - this is as close as the latter would ever come to qualifying for the Candidates, and this loss eliminated him.

Fusilli: Well, Polugaevsky was such a strong player, especially dangerous with the white pieces (of course, Polugaevsky vs Nezhmetdinov, 1958 is an exception). He knew theory inside out and was always very well prepared.
Jun-23-09  brankat: Based on the games listed in CG.com database their overall record is:

Ljubomir Ljubojevic beat Lev Polugaevsky 7 to 3, with 15 draws.

Fairly convincing in Ljubo's favour.

  Eggman: <<Ljubojevic beat Polugaevsky 7 to 3 ...>>

Yes, well that includes 3 wins when Polugaevsky was in his late '50s, 2 of which were rapid play.

Nevertheless, I notice that Ljubojevic had beaten Polugaevsky no less than 3 times with the Black pieces in the 2 years leading up to this game. What an occasion for his luck to run out!
