Jan-04-07  madness: Can you say wow? This game still stuns me after almost twenty years.
Jan-04-07  mack: God, Suttles was brilliant, wasn't he.
Jan-04-07  Whitehat1963: What happens if black plays 42...Nd6 instead? If 43. Rxe7+, then Kf6 forks the rook and knight. So does it work? Is black lost or does he have other options at that point?

42...Nd6 43.Rxe7+ Kf6 44.Rxe6+ Kxg5 45.Rxd6

<Is black lost or does he have other options at that point?>

Black could try 42...Ra3 43.Nce4 Ra2+ but I think White can walk out of the checks and the g- and h-pawns will decide.
