May-19-05  quovadis: So why did Black resign here ??
May-19-05  Ultra: If you were Black, what would you do?

Maybe, in answering my question, you will find the answer to your own.

acirce: From Pedersen's "The Botvinnik Semi-Slav":

<22..Qd5! 23.Rfd1 Nd3 would give Black plenty of counterplay. After 24.Qe3 Tal supplies the line 24..Qxg5! (threatening ..Qxg3+!; 24..a6 and 24..Rdh8 are both inferior) 25.Qe4 (25.Qxg5?! Rxg5 26.Nxa7+ Kb7 27.Nb5 Rgd5! 25..Qd5 26.Rxd3 cxd3 and then:

a) 27.Rc1+ Kb8 28.Qxb4 d2 29.Nc7+ Kc8! (29..Qb7 30.Na6+ =) 30.Rc3 Qxf3+!!

b) 27.Qxb4 d2 28.Nxa7+ (28.Ra3 d1=N!! ) 28..Kc7 29.Nb5+ Kb8 30.Nc3+ (30.Qa5?! Rd7; 30.Nd6+?! Ka8) 30..Qb7 31.Qxb7+ Kxb7 with an unclear position.>

Jan-15-06  Drifter: white looks set to eat up all of blacks central and kingside pawns.then with 3 connected passed pawns must be unstoppable, even down the exchange.
