ray keene: for anyone interested my lifetime score v miles in tournaments was

3 wins
2 losses
4 draws
plus one draw in an exhibition game with live pieces

oddly enough i also scored 3 wins v bill hartston and two losses -of the 20 or so british champions i have played these are the only ones who have scored more than one win against me.

Oct-25-04  Lawrence: <Mr. Keene>, in your notes you mention that 27.....Bxf1 was forced but Junior 8 doesn't see it, reckons that Miles should have played 27.....Nd6. That would still have left you with a comfy advantage of +1.58 but not the whopping +4.25 that 27.....Bf1 gave you. In what sense would Miles's move be forced?

ray keene: nd6 is a typical computer move-very clever and i'd missed it-however i still seem to be well on top-well spotted

ray keene: this coming saturday nov 12 is the 4th anniversary of tonys sad and premature passing--i have prepared a small tribute to him in the times for that day.
Mar-16-06  AlexanderMorphy: keene seems to have gotten the better of miles whle he was still young but Miles secured 2 victories over him in 1982, proving that both players are of fairly equal skill. great game this...well done Mr. Keene!
May-07-06  ycensor: Certainly an instructive game
for Tony Miles.

ray keene: I was surprised at how easy this win was, though of course things got much tougher as Miles matured!
