Eggman: Possibly the biggest upset of all time? Kevin Gentes, rated about 2150 by the Chess Federation of Canada, defeats Arthur Yusupov, ranked third in the world.

refutor: to be fair gentes currently has a FIDE rating of 2323 so i imagine he was stronger than 2150 at the time ;) http://www.chess.ca/memberinfo.asp?...

Eggman: How does Black's current rating reflect on his rating 18 years ago when he was a teenager?
Jul-28-05  TheNig: Kevin [Gentes] had a good result at the recently concluded Canadian Open in Edmonton with a 16th place finish. He is still in the mid 2300 range but his rating should go up with this recent result.

OhioChessFan: Wow, clearly Yusupov didn't want the draw he had in hand at the 36th move, but he was lost shortly after. Kudos to Gentes. I wouldn't possibly have the gall to play Ba8 against a world #3.
