Oct-22-09  ih8sens: Black must have missed white's 16. e6+!. White must have been hoping for this break, it's not so easy to see if you aren't expecting it.

  plang: 12 Ne2 has not been repeated; Adams thought that 12 Ne4 was probably stronger. 12..Bc5 had been played in Dannevig-Hjelm Oslo 2003 (game not included in this database); 12..c5 was new. 15..Bg4? allowed the clever positional pawn sacrifice 16 e6+!..fxe (16..Bxe6 17 h5..Ne7 18 Nf4 would have been strong for White) 17 Nf4. 38..b5 39 Kg6..bxc 40 bxc..Rb2 41 Rd2 would also have favored White. 39 a4!..Kc6 40 Re3..Rh8 41 Bf4..Kd7 42 Rd3 would have won quicker. 41..a5 42 a4..Bg4 43 f3..Rg8 would have put up more resistance.
