Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-21-05  Poulsen: Great ending by Larsen.

I was lucky enough to witness that part of the game. It was clear, that Schandorff was frustrated by not knowing, what to do - while Larsen played relaxed and with self-confidence. His handling of knight and bishop at the end is worth studying.

Larsens and his generations skills in endgames surpasses many topplayers of today. After all Larsen roses to his peak in the times of Botvinnik, Smyslov and Petrosian.

Todays top-players often takes a draw, instead of pursuing an advantage in a lengthly endgame. They should learn something from Larsen the Fighter.

However Larsen did very poorly at this championship in 1994, which took place in Aalborg - and not in Odense. It became clear, that he had virtually stopped working with chess alltogether. I remember feeling somewhat disappointed at that.

Jun-21-05  ranchogrande: good craftmanship by Larsen as pointed out by <Poulsen>.And it IS usually painfull to see ones hero from the youth fade. But isnt it Life in a nutshell ?.. As if we all lived in eternity - where would the place be for the followers ? If any , Larsen made his footsteps.
