Jun-02-14  GumboGambit: Tiger Trapped In A Cave Combination.

Notable upset win by Christo Cave.

Nov-23-15  st.dvy: A HUGE upset. Cave is only a master; whereas Tiger's a leading Swiss GM and published author on The Modern. Cave, not only beat Tiger, but beat him in his own aggressive style. It's actually jaw-dropping!

Sally Simpson: "...whereas Tiger's a leading Swiss GM."

A Swiss Swede? (Tiger is Swedish.)

The position must be classed as equal from move 30. Possibly a slight pull for Black due to White's IQP.

Between moves 30-40 it appears Tiger decided his opponent is not going to make an unforced blunder so started to mix things.

When you do this from a level position without a serious weakness in your opponent's position (The IQP does not count) then you can only weaken your own position.

It was a team event so did Tiger risk it and go for the win due the current team score?

Probably not. Sweden Beat Trinidad & Tobago 3-1 (this game was their '1').

Sometimes the GM has to bite the bullet and take the draw instead of taking a chance hoping his opponent caves in.

('caves in'......groan)

Nov-29-15  st.dvy: Please pardon the Swiss vs. Swede blunder. At any event, the game's a gem.
