Sep-13-07  Tenderfoot: THE WHALE!!!!
Oct-13-07  Floyd5642: Why does this guy play Fritz so often?
Oct-13-07  Ed Trice: Well, if "Pecci" is some derivative or convolution of the word "fish" in some languages, maybe his name means "Earn F Fish". We know "F" is a bad grade, so perhaps his name secretly means something about deserving to be called a bad fish?
Jan-08-08  realbrob: I don't think pecci has anything to do with pesci (fishes in Italian). Just sounds like an Italian surname.. Maybe some further research can reveal its etymological origin.
Jan-08-08  realbrob: Now I remember I had something to say about the game, too :)

I need to try the absurd openings of this guy against my home computer. I don't think they're good from a general point of view, but the engine doesn't understand anything about them and its pieces get horribly uncoordinated!

Mar-07-08  cuppajoe: <Pecci Name Meaning and History

Italian: of uncertain derivation; possibly from peccio, peccia, which can have the meaning of ‘paunch’ (hence a nickname for a large-bellied man), or ‘chicken’, ‘hen’ (either a nickname for someone thought to resemble a chicken or a metonymic occupational name for a poultry keeper), or ‘woodpecker’ (applied as a nickname for someone considered to be a sneak, meddler, or a parasite, all apparently characteristics associated with the bird), but more likely a habitational name from a place named Peccia or similar for the presence of spruce trees (Latin picea). [via ancestry.com]>

Perhaps Mr. Pecci is a 'woodpecker' of chess who plays 'sneaky' openings.
