Dec-29-06  Mameluk: Big Tolya would not have missed 17. Qf2! with fxg6 threat hard to cover.

Ron: I think mameluk has an interesting idea, here's a refinement: 17. fxg6 fxg6 18. Qf2 Comp evals give this line stronger for white than what was acutually played.
Dec-30-06  Mameluk: Shipov is giving some terrific analysis of this game on www.crestbook.com. He does not mention Qf2 there, and then I donĀ“t understand his line after 32. Nc1. H e claims there 32... Bxe3+ 33. Qxe3 Qd4 34. Qxd4 exd4 a long line ending well for white, the switches to 32...Nd7, but what about simple 34...Rxd4? I think if the position after 32...Rxg5 is not won for black, something is wrong with chess. I think 17. h4 lost the advantage, and decisive mistake is creative 21. Rfc1, when Rfd1 should equalize.
