Sastre: Black is already a pawn down. He also has a backward d-pawn that can be targeted by White. For example, if Black attempts to castle by playing 17...Be7, White might continue with <18.Rad1 O-O 19.Bxd6 Bxa4 20.b3 Bc6 21.Bxe7 Qxe7 22.Qd6 Qxd6 23.Rxd6 Rac8 24.Rxf6>, winning another pawn.
Aug-20-11  ahmadov: Another premature resignation...
Aug-20-11  haydn20: I was surprised to see that this variation was played after 1930 since 6...b5 looks like a godawful move. There's no point continuing after 17 Qd3 as Black has three indefensible pawns, a bad king and poor pieces.
Aug-21-11  ahmadov: <haydn20> Thanks for the comment...
Feb-26-12  companys: In fact the game did not end on move 17 but, as stated in a Czech book about Reti, black eventually lost anyway...

GrahamClayton: One of the first examples of the thematic knight sacrifice on d5 in the Sicilian - Tartakower declined, but still lost the game.
