Apr-11-07  Knight13: White was better all this time and...

Shabalov really pulled the string in this one.

Apr-12-07  Coleman: It just looks like black sat back and said "O.k.....What's next?" Hikaru's attack was pretty aggressive. But then he castles, and makes a push when he had no other choice. Then again, that's not a bad strategy with a heavy calculator like Nakamura. Funny game to review.

  al wazir: Where's the win?
Aug-20-08  arsen387: <al wazir: Where's the win?> seems like the win is 44..Rd2+ 45.Ka1 R8d3 46.Rxd3 (no choice) Bxd3 47.Nef4 Be4 and there's no good defense against the threat Bc7 and Bxe5#
Aug-20-08  najdorfman: al wazir:

After 45. Ka1 Bb6! White starts losing serious material. 46. Rec3 Rxe2; 46. Nhg3 Bxe3; or 46. Rf3 Rxe2 47. Rxf5 Bd4+ 48. Kb1 Rb2+ 49. Ka1 Ra8! soon mates.

Aug-20-08  arsen387: yeah right, 45..Bb6! is better

  al wazir: <najdorfman, arsen387>: Thanks. Another possible line is 45. Ka1 Bb6 46. Neg3 Bg6 (46...Bxe3? 47. Nxf5 Rd1) 47. Rec3 Bd4 48. Nf4 Bxc3+ 49. Rxc3 Rd1+ 50. Kb2 R8d2+ 51. Rc2 Rxc2#.
Aug-21-08  arsen387: <al wazir> in your line 46..Bb6 is odd. 46..Bd4+ immediately does the same, e.g. 45.Ka1 Bb6 46.Neg3 Bd4+ 47.Rc3(any R) BxR 48.RxB Rd1+ and mate in any variation 1) 49.Kb2 R8d2+ 50.Rc2+ Rxc2#
2) 49.Kb1 R8d2+ 50.Rc2+ Rxc2#
3) 49.Rc1 Rxc1+ 50.Kb2 (Ka2 Rc2#) Rb1+ 51.Kc3 Rb3+

I just liked the last mating line, that's why I posted all possible :)

Nov-09-09  WhiteRook48: 40 Nhxf4! lasts longer
