An Englishman: Good Evening: Interesting mating pattern at the end of this game.
Aug-11-14  Once: That is a fun finish. Rewind to 39...Rg8+

White has only two legal moves. He can run in front of his own pawn with Kh4 or he can hide behind it with Kh2. Unfortunately, both end in forced mates:

The game line is 40. Kh2 Nf3+ 41. Nf2#

The other line is also fun:

40. Kh4 Nf3+ 41. Kh5 Nxf4+!

Now white has a choice of which square to die on. He can take the proffered knight with 42. Nxf4 Rg5+ 43. Kh6 Rh8#

Or he can advance his king even further into the white half of the board.

42. Kh6 Rg6+ 43. Kh7

Do you think that if the white king makes it all the way to h8 he can promote it into a queen?

43...Ng5#

We will never find out.

Three attractive mates for the price of one today.

Penguincw: This pun is probably a pun on the 2000's show, Malcolm in the Middle.

Aug-11-14  Cheapo by the Dozen: Interesting opening. Both sides had atrocious weaknesses at KB2.
Aug-11-14  kevin86: I always liked Malcolm in the Middle., even when his dad was "breaking bad".

The horses take this one, late.
