HeMateMe: Wow, white could have had a draw by repetition. I guess he miscalculated what would happpen if he let Shirov's rook get active.
Sep-07-10  Nova: I wonder if 45. d6 might have given white better chances than the text move 45. Be7. It appears that the d pawn will have to be taken by the black rook. Be7 doesn't really help white that much anyway.... Anyone have any more insight into this position?
Sep-08-10  Jambow: Some how I think white should have won that game?
Sep-08-10  manakin: Indeed, 45. d6 seems winning.

<Nova> <manakin>, 45.d6 still equal chance for both sides..

28 Qg6 f6 29 Raf1 Rf7 30 Rxf6 Rxf6 31 Rxf6 Rhh7 32 Bh6+ Ke8 33 Rf5

Sep-08-10  Jambow: <goodevans> I think there is a flaw in your analysis, 31.Rxf6 is + so Rhh7 is illegal and also should be Rh7 as the other rook has been exchanged. Not trying to be nit picky just went over it to see and it looks convincing up until 31.
Sep-08-10  Diego52: Superb fighting spirit! Lets wish for more of this and no more quick draws on 2700++!!
Sep-08-10  goodevans: <Jambow> Apologies. It should have read <30 ... gxf6>. The full line then reads

28 Qg6 f6 29 Raf1 Rf7 30 Rxf6 gxf6 31 Rxf6 Rhh7 32 Bh6+ Ke8 33 Rf5
