Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-29-11  Funicular: I followed the game closely and I felt somewhat dissapointed after the draw was agreed. Aronian was always ahead in time control and had around 1 hour and 7 minutes of time left when they reached the final position. I was hoping for 46. ...Rb4. If someone would please run an engine check for that as well as for 35. Nc6, i'd appreciate it, for im stuck at work for a few more hours. Thanks
Jan-29-11  Marmot PFL: The whole game was evidently BS. Aronian said afterward to l'Ami: 'I have @#$%*&!#ted you so much, maybe I should have @#$%*&!#ted you even more!'
Feb-05-11  hedgeh0g: I think it's pretty obvious Aronian was trying to steal first place in the tournament by playing something bizarre against one of the whipping boys of the A Group. Can you imagine him playing this against Anand or Kramnik?
Feb-17-11  ReikiMaster: 32.Nxg5 looks very good for white. Black's sac on b6 didn't seem sound or forced.
Feb-17-11  shalgo: Some quick notes from looking at parts of the game with Stockfish to address the questions and comments below:

- Stockfish doesn't like 27...0-0, preferring 27..Qb8 28.b6 Bd8.

- It doesn't like 28...Rxb6, giving White only a small edge after 28...Nf6.

- The program gives 32.Nxg5 as best, and winning for White.

- It agrees that L'Ami's 35.Qc1 is best, preferring it to 35.Nc6.

- The program doesn't like 36.Ra3, however, giving 36.Re1 as winning for White.
